Uni ji,
I have most of the songs in your wish list. You will however have to teach me step by step on how to upload songs. PLAYBACK SINGING STARTS AND ENDS WITH RAFISAAB. IN TERMS OF QUALITY, CONSISTENCY & VERSATILITY, RAFISAAB IS INFINITE LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF ALL SINGERS BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER HIM. |

Suhana safar:
First of all, can we please cut out the formalities. Please call me just Unni, and I would rather address you by your real name, and not by your screen name --- unless you would prefer to keep it that way. A die-hard Rafian like you bearing the name of a famous Mukesh number --- zara ajub sa lagtha hai! Kum-say-kum apna naam "JUNGLEE" ya "JAANWAR" ya "BUDTAMEEZ" tho rakkho. No, I am only kidding. The first step is to copy the track to the hard drive. When copying from CD it is easy, since Windows Media Player already gives us that facility. But if we are copying from a tape, then we need the software for that. Since I am not a computer whiz, I had to buy a "mixer" (hardware) and download the software that comes with the package. But sensible people just connect the tape player to the computer by using the right wires. Then all you would need to do is download the software to "copy" the track from the tape to the hard drive --- this again is available as free download at Download.com. The whole idea should be to find and use free software. The track you copy (from tape or CD) to the hard drive will be in WAV format (the format for playing music on the usual music systems). Since this is an 'expanded" format, we need to compress it to mp3 format for uploading, for which the currently popular program is the free download Thomson mp3PRO. The last step is to compress the track further by "zipping" it with WINZIP or WINRAR (again free downloads). The messaging system of this form gives us the option to attach a file to the message. Click on the "Browse.." button at the bottom of the messaging screen until the name of that compressed/zipped file appears as the "path". (If you click the "'Preview Post" button, the path to the attachment disappears from the attachment path bar. So the "Add Reply" button should be clicked when the "path" to the file is showing in that bar). Please do not be thrown off by what might initially appear as being very technical. It really is not. As you would already know, acquiting computer skills at our level as "users" is just a matter of playing around and trying out things. We don't need a Ph.D. in computer science! And please don't be an idiot like me and spend money on acquiring stuff to do it. Particularly if you are in India, where you can easily get great technical help from friends/colleagues as well guidance for the right software. If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

Hi Unni,
Well actaully I got my name from Rafisaabs song from Suhana Safar. "Yeh suhana safar uthi nahi hein nazaron se nazar. Great song just like all his songs. Whenever I try to copy from a Cd it goes to my documents rather than the dard drive. What to do I also have a Win rar , can that help. I will try to upload tomorrow. Cheers. Suhana:
It doesn't matter if the file goes to My Documents. Just go to the songs file in My Documents and then convert it to mp3 and then zip it. When you attach it to the message, the path will read something like: C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\My Music\Meri Mohobbat.rar Now we are getting somewhere! Cheers --- Unni If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

Sharad:
You wrote that you have the "Dil Tera Deewana" DVD which has "Masoom chehra". Apparently, when I uploaded it, some members were unable to download it. I even tried to send to them as e-mail attachments both this song and "Phool ka shabaab kya". But no dice. Despite mp3 and zip, the e-mails could not be delivered --- something to do with file size and HotMail, etc. Would you please U/L "Massom chehra" from your DVD, since even my computer has complained about problems in reading that file. I don't think my U/L has already been enshrined in the Song Library. So maybe we can go with your shorter version. Leers --- Unni If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused.
