Here are some songs in Bengali. I also happened to come across the same song in a Marathi version. I am not sure which is the original - the Bengali or the Marathi. It could be either... Well, which ever be the original, as far as I am concerned, we have a treasure here of amazing melodies - both in Bengali and Marathi - and hence these are double treasures smile1.gif

The song by Lata ji has been around for quite some time. I am not sure when was it released but should be much before the one by Shreya Ghoshal.

Cheers

Sure... agree that Shreya Ghoshal's song is the more recent one.. the questions is whether the marathi version is the original (first one) or the bengali version.... smile1.gif

Oops..that was too obvious, right?

I guess Lataji's Marathi song came around mid sixties. Penned by Bha Ra Tambe and composed by Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar ji. Its a personal favorite of mine.

Not sure about when the Bengali song was released.

Thanks for letting me know who the poet was for this song... Was aware the music was by Pt. Hridaynath Mageshkar. Then you should also like Mogara Phulala (raag gorakh kalyan) as well as Taruna Aahe ratra ajuni (A=By Asha Tai - which is my personal favourite - raag bilaskhani todi) - both songs were composed by Pt. Hridaynath Mangeshkar...

I do not know anything about Raag, but I love all the songs you mentioned and many more by Lata ji. In my childhood, we used to have at least 10 cassettes of Marathi songs of Lata ji. Mogara phulala is absolutely divine.

Glad to share my little knowledge on Marathi poetry. In fact I wanted to be a poet cum professor of Marathi at one point in time...alas....

if song is composed by hridaynath mangeshkar, it is more likely that original recording was done in marathi
