This one is another Kishore Sahu film. It was one of the earliest movies made in color. The music by Shankar-Jaikishan is again in a class by itself. Simply superb. By the way, the words in the song "Tandana Tandana Tandana" are Telugu. Shankar, though Punjabi, was raised in Hyderabad. Occasionally he made use of some Telugu words in their songs. This is one of them. Another famous one is from Raj Kapoor's "Shri 420," the song "Ramayya Vastavayya ...". "Vastavayya" is a Telugu word. In the film "Raj Kumar" there is a song by Lata "Naach Re Man Batkamma." Batkamma is another Telugu word, which is part of a celebration during Dasera festival in parts of Andhra Pradesh. The same word was used by Shankar-Jaikishan in another song "Batkamma Ekkada Potavu Raa." All these four words of this song from the movie "Shatranj" are Telugu.

Now for the songs of Mayurpankh ...
