I remember Munawwar Sultana as the singer for two of my childhood's favorite songs. She had three or four songs in Pheray and almost all the songs in Laarey. Her ' Ki keeta taqdeeray. kyon torh dittey do heerey' from Pheray and ' Waasta ee rab da toon jaaeen weh kabootra. Chithi meray dhol nu pahunchaeen(?) wey kabootra' from Dulla Bhatti were the songs I remember from the 40's and fifties.I think she had some songs in some pre partition movies too. While I can find enough songs by Noor Jehan, Mala, Iqbal Bano,Nazeer Begum and other female singers, her songs are not that easy to come by.Harjinder
