One of my mother's favorite films is Naila, based on her favorite author Razia Butt's novel by the same name.
Urdu films should go back to novels for salvation.
Naila was the first color film from West Pakistan and first major hit for Mala.
She sang all the seven songs. All of them are brilliant poetry by Qateel Shifai and Himayat Ali Shayer and composed by Master Inayat Husain.
In 1965 Mala won the best singer Nigar Award for this film.
My favorite is 'abhi diya na bujhao'.
I've been told that 'mujhe aarzu thi jis ki' has been lifted - not sure.
'ghame dil ko' is a timeless classic and 'ja aur mohabbat kar pagli' is also amazing.
