O Allah! Bestow blessings and peace on Sayyidina Muhammad,

O you who believe! Invoke blessings on him,
and salute him with a worthy salutation. (33:56)[/color]
Allahumma Salli wa Sallim 'alaa Sayyidina Muhammad-in

Wa nujoomi'l ihtidaa-i limaniqtadaa
Wa Sallim tasleeman katheeran daaiman abadaa
•O Allah! Bestow blessings and peace on Sayyidina Muhammad,
and on his family and his companions,
who are the repositories of his secrets, the reflecting centres of his light,
treasure houses of truths, leaders to the right path for the creatures,
and the guiding stars for those who follow them:
and grant them peace constantly in profusion for ever and ever.
For those not acquainted with Islam, Id-e-Milaad, is the celebration of the birth of Muhammad Mustafa (s). The Holy Quran gives information of the birth of other prophets and events connected with them as glad tidings, i.e. something to celebrate about. These prophets include: Jesus, Ismail, Ishaaq, (peace be upon them all) as well as Moses (pbuh) who spoke of the favours of Allah unto the children of Israel. The glad tidings connected with the coming of Prophet (s) are so very numerous that they cannot be recounted here. To mention some: Birth of Prophet (s) in the progeny of Abraham (pbhm) among the Arabs, bestowing of Prophethood, Revelation of the entire Quran, the birth of a new nation and the wiping out of the “Jahaaliya” and the profileration of the Community, Prophet (s) being sent to the entire creation as a “Mercy” . The Quran also refers Prophet (s) as the “Light”. On going through the Quran, the Sunnah and Islamic literatures, it will seen that the coming the Holy Prophet (s) on this earthly sphere was accompanied by extraordinary signs and miraculous happenings. In this short introduction, we cannot go into all those aspects. Celebrating the Prophet(s) means celebrating the birth of Islam. When he came into this world, the world became covered with his blessings and the emanation of Divine truth from him.
The people of Islam and the nation of Muhammad (s) celebrate and commemorate the dvent with joy, pride and offering salawat (durood shareef) in profusion especially on this day in addition to their daily prayers. Voluntary prayers and fasting are also done by the Lovers of Prophet (s). The Day is also marked by holding Majlis to highlight the life and times of Prophet (s), i.e. his Seerah, as well as reciting Qasidas (poetries) in his praise and by way of respect, practicing charity, including feeding of the poor. This is the Day also to reflect on all the teachings and virtues and values of Islam. The fact is that all this is done every day also. As the Insaan al-Kaamil( The perfect human)the Holy Prophet (s) delivered Allah’s message to the mankind and the Jinn and thus gave the world a formula for success both in this life as well as in the Next.
If one has to smell the fragrance of Imaan and reinvigorate his relationship with the Creator it is essential to love the Prophet (s) more than he loves his own life, his wife and children and property. For without loving him (s) the Imaan (Faith) is not complete. The celebration of the Milaadun Nabi is one way of attaching ourselves to the teachings of the Holy Prophet (s). It is highly recommended, though not compulsory, to observe the Id-e-Milaad.
