I have wanted to start this post for a while but never got round it, as the Nayyara Noor post was well received it prompted me to get a move on with this one.

These are a selection of my favourite Pakistani film songs. They are in CDQ, some are from the film recording and other from record.

Thanks for the additional info Inaam bhai. I'll keep uploading the classics to this thread. A lot of these songs have been easily available to Pakistani audiences for a long time (although they are getting harder to find these days) so thought these should be available for a wider audience.

The actress Sheila Ramani was born in Sindh and migrated to Bombay where she earned a name as a supporting actress in Taxi Driver. She came to Karachi to play the lead in Ankohi, a production of Sheikh Latif, who was her uncle. Sheila went back to Bombay after this film and remained as a middle-of-the-range performer.

The music was composed by Timir Baran, a Bengali who came from India for this purpose.

Inaam bhai, any ideas about this next song - the CD I have has said this is from the film Gulnar. Was there another Gulnar or is this the same Noor Jehan Gulnar, or is it a mistake on the CD? The CD seems to have many mistakes In any case, I like the song.

Jamal! To my knowledge, this song is from 'Beqaraar' (1950). MD was Master Ghulam Haider. What a lovely song. Though I have never heard the original song. This song was re sung by A Nayyar & Mehnaz (not sure about the singer's name) in a TV show. I have this re sung version on a tape. I am dyeing to get the original version…. Lekin kya karoon ratio ka problem hai
Anyway, you have uploaded such marvelous songs. We have the same taste in music. I have all of them on audio tape and want to get the CDQ. BTW can you provide the CD company details?

Most of the songs in this collection are from CD's I got from Radio City. I have seen this shop in Lahore and in Islamabad, they may have one in Karachi.

all songs of Naya Zamana by Majrooh Sultanpuri (most famous by Munir Hussain's Chain say so rahay thay hum)
