Peter Jackson gave this movie a new twist. I 've seen the old
King Kong movies and they're quite great, but this one is exceptional!! The actors and actress Naomi gave the movie its own character and distinct traits from the original story. It fits them so well, but the most remarkable in this movie is KONG. Peter made the beast look like a real, living gorilla, only it's 25 feet tall. The actor who portrayed Kong is great. He gives the beast life, not just its brute strength and uncanny agility, but a heart of beast that is longing for a companion. In his eyes you can see the soul that suffers from the savagery of the island, but his love for Ann, he finds his way to conquer it. There are many scenes in this movie that will capture your heart and even make you cry. It's up for you to see. This movie is worth seeing for. This is a great remake from a great director (",).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The box-office performance of Peter Jackson's "King Kong" wasn't as chest-thumping as many expected. But to be fair, $217 million isn't terrible, nor was the $520 million worldwide take. Moreover, the film was well received by critics, nominated for four Oscars and won three: visual effects, sound and sound editing.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

short summary

Set in the 1930s, this is the story of a young and beautiful actress Ann Darrow from the world of vaudeville who finds herself lost in depression-era New York and her luck changes when she meets an over-ambitious filmmaker Carl Denham who brings her on an exploratory expedition to a remote island where she finds compassion and the true meaning of humanity with an ape Kong. The beauty and the beast finally meet their fate back in the city of New York where the filmmaker takes and displays the ape in quest of his fame by commercial exploitation which ultimately leads to catastrophe for everyone including a playwright Jack Driscoll who falls in love with Ann and plays an unlikely hero by trying to save her from Kong and her destiny.

Name:....................................Blade 2

Genre....................................Action/horror

Rating:..................................good

Story:
A rare mutation has occurred within the vampire community. The Reaper. A vampire so consumed with an insatiable bloodlust that they prey on vampires as well as humans, transforming victims who are unlucky enough to survive into Reapers themselves. Now their quickly expanding population threatens the existence of vampires, and soon there won't be enough humans in the world to satisfy their bloodlust. Blade, Whistler (Yes, he's back) and an armory expert named Scud are curiously summoned by the Shadow Council. The council reluctantly admits that they are in a dire situation and they require Blade's assistance. Blade then tenuously enters into an alliance with The Bloodpack, an elite team of vampires trained in all modes of combat to defeat the Reaper threat. Blade's team and the Bloodpack are the only line of defense which can prevent the Reaper population from wiping out the vampire and human populations.

Blade II is an exciting action film that takes the tired vampire story and adds a new twist by introducing an entirely new villain. Sure, there is sure to be some controversy (at least among film fans and fans of the genre) about whether or not it is right to introduce new characters in this way. Vampires are a tired theme at the movies, but it is a time-honored genre in itself that deserves respect just from the fact that it has been around for so long in literature before the movies. The question of whether or not the writers were justified in introducing these new characters is, in my opinion, satisfied by the fact that they made such quality villains that fit so well into the genre.

I am thrilled to see that they didn't just make another dumb Blade film that was exactly the same as the original except for the possibility of some new special effects, because these new characters, called Reapers, are exactly what the film series, as well as, potentially, the genre as a whole, needed. Reapers are blood-feeders, just like vampires, except they feed on humans as well as vampires, effectively making them an enemy of both, and their thirst is much stronger than the traditional vampire. And to make matters worse (or better, depending on whether you are an enemy of the Reapers of a member of the audience), they are identified by a scar which runs down their chin. This scar is where the lower jaw splits open when the Reaper is feeding, creating a frighteningly massive mouth like a vampire version of the Predator, and which has things inside it reminiscent of the horrifying and strangely unique Tremors.

There are some amazing make-up effects here as well, although I can see the film being automatically overlooked at the Oscars in 2003 simply because it is the successor of such a low class action/horror film, as well as because this is just not the kind of movie that wins Academy Awards. I'm not sure that there is anything in this film that is likely to catch the Academy's attention, but the make-up was very impressive to say the least. Wesley Snipes returns to the role of Blade, the half-human/half-vampire creature dubbed the `Daywalker' because of his ability to withstand sunlight. This is in itself one of the better parts of the movie, because even though I was enormously unimpressed with the original film, there is no one that could play this character as well as Snipes does. There is also an interesting conflict introduced as Blade is forced to team up with the vampires, his mortal enemies who we are to assume could turn on him at any time, in order to fight the Reapers (by far the more dangerous enemy), who ‘reproduce,' you might say, at an astonishing rate.

It's too bad, though, that the existence of the Reapers was introduced by vampires in a rather impressive although entirely unnecessary fight scene between a couple of vampires and Blade himself. Blade is attacked one night by two vampires wearing body suits (and some goggles that probably retain the coolest effect of the entire film), they fight violently for several minutes at full speed without rest, until one of them suddenly kneels before Blade and asks for a truce, informing him that there is now something on the streets that is even worse than him. If they were going to ask for a truce, you would think that they would approach him at least a little differently. One of these vampires (the better fighter, as it were) turns out to be Nyssa Damaskinos, a sexy brunette vampire who's lipstick was not smeared in the least even by all of those flying kicks that she took to the face from Blade about 15 feet in the air. Remarkable.

There seems to be a growing trend of having honest fight scenes replaced at an ever-increasing amount by special effects. Consider how vastly the role of special effects increased in Jet Li's fight scenes in Lethal Weapon 4 (relatively few special effects), Romeo Must Die (massive amounts of special effects), and The One (relatively few movements that were NOT special effects). This same trend is clearly influencing other films that are not made to be primarily fighting films, such as Blade and Blade II. The weapons that Blade carries around are still cool (think of them as a dark version of the toys that James Bond was sometimes given to take on his missions), and while the fight scenes in Blade and especially Blade II are undeniably thrilling and fun to watch, it's impossible to ignore the fact that most of what we are watching is computer generated.

As a whole, Blade II succeeds in reviving the story of Blade, which was not done justice by the original film. The Reapers were a much-needed and very impressive addition to the story, and the resulting conflict between the vampires and Blade himself as they are forced to take sides together provides such an interesting conflict that it almost overshadows the one created by the Reapers, who are by far the more dangerous villains. There is, of course, some stuff here that was thrown in without apparent reason and therefore without beneficial affect (such as the unnecessary, however impressive, fight scene between Blade and the two vampires early in the film), but as a whole the film rises high above its predecessor. The fact that the original film ends with Blade becoming a worldly vampire-hunter is mostly ignored in this film, although this one does end with a similar bit of comic relief and may even leave room for a second sequel. And as much as I disliked the original film, after watching Blade II I can't say that I would be too disappointed to see a Blade III come out in a few years.

Name:....................................The Ten Commandments (2006) (TV movie)

Genre....................................History/Religious

Rating:..................................Excellent

Story:
One biblical figure is revered by Jews, Christians, and Muslims alike. His name is Moses (Dougray Scott, Arabian Nights), the man who rose in power to defend a people, to free them, and to live in history like no other...

A time of danger approaches for all of the Kingdom. Danger from a child. A child who will become a Prince of Egypt. With the soothsayer's dire prophecy, the Pharoah (Paul Rhys, From Hell) orders the slaughter of all newborn males. But one child, born of Hebrew slave Amram (Louis Hilyer, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow) and his wife Jochebed (Emmy nominee Lisa Jacobs, The Attic), is put in the care of others to ensure his safety. As years pass, Moses is raised in a royal Egyptian household and, with no memory of his true family, rises to the stature of prince. Upon discovery of his heritage, and inspired by a fiery message from God, Moses implores his stepbrother Menerith (Emmy nominee Naveen Andrews, Lost), a high-ranking official in Ramses' army, to join him on a fight to reclaim his destiny as the leader and liberator of the Hebrew people.

But when Ramses rejects his demands, Moses issues the curse of a coming plague. From a swarming cloud of locusts to a river transformed in to a rushing stream of human blood to a downpour of frogs from the heavens, the prophesied scourge has been unleashed--Moses has taken the first step toward accomplishing his mission. Charting the dramatic story of the Hebrew leader--from his narrow escape from death to his leadership of the Hebrew people to the parting of the Red Sea, The Ten Commandments unfolds with all the spectacle, the violent human drama, and grand inspiration that has earned its stature as the greatest story ever told.

My comments:
I just luved this movie.................such a great one..........it refreshes one's religious memory.........this is a Hazrat Mosa, one of muslim's prophet 's movie..............he's one of four prophets who has book from Allah................brilliant...........awesome...........too good............i'd recommend muslims, jewish, and history lovers to watch this movie...........

In an overly earnest, high-gloss (for TV) production, ABC's "The Ten Commandments" is perilously close to Hollywood hokum, but manages to rise above it by featuring the ever-interesting Dougray Scott in the lead role of Moses (despite being yet another light-eyed Westerner playing one of history's most well-known Middle Eastern figures). In fact, the entire cast rescues the show from a mundane script, with Omar Sharif as Moses' father-in-law, Jethro, and Mia Maestro as Zipporah, as well as a slew of savvy international actors in supporting roles. It's hard to believe that there is room for yet another version of the story, but this four-hour Robert Halmi production offers a deeply conflicted religious figure struggling to find God in the midst of personal confusion and a people at war - a Bible story for our times. Grade: B

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Most of the acting stands up to the well-known material, but why do so many characters speak with British accents? Is this the Royal Shakespeare Company doing the Old Testament? Many actors also appear too light-skinned to come from this region of the world. Were Egyptian pharaohs really that pale?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

You might think that, considering the technical progress made in the past five decades, at least the special effects in the new version would be good. Oh you would be so wrong.

Shall We Dance (2004)

*ing- Richard Gere, jennifer Lopez, Susan Sarandon and others

Plot Outline: A romantic comedy where a bored, overworked Estate Lawyer, upon first sight of a beautiful instructor, signs up for ballroom dancing lessons.

John Clark is a man with a wonderful job, a charming wife and a loving family, who nevertheless feels that something is missing as he makes his way every day through the city.

Each evening on his commute home, John sees a beautiful woman, staring with a lost expression through the window of a dance studio. Haunted by her gaze, John impulsively jumps off the train one night, and signs up for dance lessons, hoping to meet her.
At first, it seems like a mistake. His teacher turns out to be not Paulina, but the older Miss Mitzi, and John proves just as clumsy as his equally clueless classmates on the dance-floor.

Even worse, when he does meet Paulina, she icily tells John she hopes he has come to the studio to seriously study dance and not to look for a date. But, as his lessons continue, John falls in love with dancing. Keeping his new obsession from his family and co-workers, John feverishly trains for Chicago's biggest dance competition.

His friendship with Paulina blossoms, as his enthusiasm rekindles her own lost passion for dance. But the more time John spends away from home, the more his wife becomes suspicious.

With his secret about to be revealed, John will have to do some fancy footwork to keep his dream going and realize what it is he really yearns for.

Yes my Darlings, this is a dramatic, funny, romantic, time-travelin' movie. And the film succeeds because the chemistry between Keanu & Sandra is tangible. They've worked together before & genuinely like each other. It's the most important element; because their comfort level helps you believe the story and forget that you're watching Sandra & Keanu. As the characters get to know each other through correspondence, the film seduces you into suspended belief. Your left-brain's logical, analytical, fact-based reasoning doesn't want you to root for them, but your heart does. This film skips over the scientific & enables you to explore the tiniest possibilities of 'what if.......' Yes, it's corny, but so what. So is ROMANCE! See it with someone you desire.

In a 1945 film called The Enchanted Cottage, a disfigured ex-GI and an
'ugly duckling' woman discover that when residing in the cottage of the
title, she is beautiful and he is no longer disfigured.

The Enchanted Cottage is no classic, but as far as the 'magical house of
love' genre goes, there's a metaphorical aspect to the story about the blindness of love - since their perfection only exists in each other's eyes - to the rest of the world he is still disfigured and she is still "homely".

Unfortunately, there is no such metaphorical level at work in The Lake
House
. Alex (Keanu Reeves) lives in a house on a lake in 2004 and Kate (Sandra Bullock) lives there in 2006. Through some anomaly in the spacetime continuum they are able to communicate with each other via the letterbox. Naturally, they fall in love, sight unseen, and have to work out how to meet in Alex's future and Kate's present.

I was quite excited at the start of the film because I was convinced that Alex was a construction worker (he wears a hard hat and work boots) and that falling in love with Kate, a doctor, would allow the film to deal with what happens when the normal indicators of class and status are obscured and people just like each other for who they are.

But no such luck. Keanu turns out to be an architect from a long line of architects, and an entirely appropriate partner for Doctor Kate except for the annoying fact that he lives in the past - literally, not metaphorically.

A grown up's version of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure - only not as good.

UNITED 93

I watched United 93 today and remembering the struggle passengers must have gone through on September 11 shocks to my spine. UNITED 93, shows the heroic struggle between the passengers and hijackers of the fourth plane that was to be hijacked on September 11, 2001. This was the plane that never made to its target. The director Paul Greengrass has chosen the most politically and emotionally charged source material available to an artist in the early 21st century, and shaped it into a psychologically draining, terrifyingly real, and technically brilliant film.

United 93 depicts one of the most terrifying ordeals the United States has ever had to face and that it was released less than five years after those events took place plays an undeniably enormous role in how the film is received.

And the president was not shown at all.

Here is the review of the movie!

John Tucker Must Die: Lots of fun
Elvis D'Silva

September 29, 2006 13:38 IST

Hell hath no fury like three women who discover that they have been dating the same boy in high school! The man in question -- in the fun film, John Tucker Must Die -- happens to be the most popular guy in school, the much loved John Tucker (Jesse Metcalfe, Desperate Housewives).

John is smooth enough to keep the three girls unaware of each other until an unfortunate accident reveals the truth. After a catfight or two, the girls decide to work together for one reason and one reason alone -- revenge.

Enrolled into their plan is the new girl in school, Kate (Brittany Snow, The Pacifier), who has up until that point rued her existence as the 'invisible' girl, one whom no one seems to notice or remember. She's not entirely unattractive but has spent her life in the shadow of her super hot mother (Jenny McCarthy), whose bad dating history has usually been followed by mother and daughter packing up and moving to another town.

Her life changes when she encounters the three heartbroken John Tucker rejects -- overachieving journalism aspirant Carrie (Arielle Kebbel, Gilmore Girls), head cheerleader Heather (singer Ashanti Douglas) and environmentally-conscious free-spirit Beth (Sophia Bush, One Tree Hill).

Kate meekly suggests that they team up to destroy the great John Tucker instead of fighting among themselves. Suddenly from being the biggest nobody in high school, she becomes the co-coordinator of the plot against John Tucker.

A still from John Tucker Must DieThis being a teen comedy, the emphasis is on playful hi-jinks that embarrass the heartbreaker rather than cause him any real harm. From tricking him into posing for a public service announcement about venereal diseases to facilitating his consumption of estrogen-laced energy drinks (that cause him to behave in a girlie fashion at odds with his alpha male status), the girls try (and fail) to bring down the boy who is a god among his peers.

Each supposed reversal causes him to bounce back greater and stronger than ever before until the girls pull out their secret weapon -- a made-over Kate who is pushed onto the frontlines to seduce John so that she can break his heart when he actually falls for her.

Naturally, since this is a product of Hollywood, there is also the other love interest, in this case the brother aka, 'the other Tucker' played by the relative newcomer Penn Badgley. Between trading teen queen jibes with the 'cute-but-not-John' in chemistry class and working her womanly wiles on John with the aim of breaking his heart, our heroine, Kate, has a full school schedule.

Does the high school Lothario get his just desserts? Is the other Tucker doomed to quietly watch as his brother charms the one girl he also likes? Is revenge really a dish best served cold? If you're hoping to get deep meaningful answers to any of these questions you've definitely walked into the wrong screening room in the wrong multiplex on the wrong continent.

A still from John Tucker Must DieJTMD is a fun little romp that doesn't take itself seriously except while attempting to cash in on the photogenic salability of its stars to the teen and pre-teen demographic. Between the hot blonde Kebbel, sultry brunette Bush and feisty Douglas, the boys are provided with decent options for a fantasy date while the ladies are all supposed to swoon over the crooked smile and sleekly buffed musculature of Jesse Metcalfe on the big screen (if two seasons as Desperate Housewives' Eva Longoria's boy toy were not enough).

I suspect though that it is young Mr Badgley who is going to end up winning considerable appreciation along the way for his endearing geeky but cool manner. <------------- YOU BET HE DID wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif

This is the movie that was made for that ever widening category/genre called 'time pass.' A tasty enough confection but don't expect any nutritional value.

one comment from imdb. don't know what u think ...

As for those people who claim that the story is "implausible".... they're probably the same people who think
that silly IMPOSSIBLE fantasies like X-Men, King-Kong, Lord of the Rings, Spiderman, etc, etc were great
movies. At least the characters and events in Lake House are believable, once the basic premise is
accepted. Can't say that about drivel like X-Men.
