Dikhayi diye yun ke bekhud kiya
Hamein aap se bhi juda kar chale
Dikhayi diye yun ke bekhud kiya
Dikhayi diye yun

Jabheen sajda karte hi karte gayi
Haq-e-bandagi ham adaa kar chale
Dikhayi diye yun ke bekhud kiya
Hamein aap se bhi juda kar chale
Dikhayi diye yun

Parasthish ki yaan tak ke aye buth tujhe
Nazar mein sabhon ki khuda kar chale
Dikhayi diye yun ke bekhud kiya
Hamein aap se bhi juda kar chale
Dikhayi diye yun

Bahut aarzoo thi gali ki teri
So yaan-e-lahoo mein naha kar chale
Dikhayi diye yun ke bekhud kiya
Hamein aap se bhi juda kar chale
Dikhayi diye yun ke bekhud kiya
Dikhayi diye yun

Sorry to trouble you. But would you please provide a 'loose' translation of the lyrics. This is one song apart from Ghalib's "Ae Taaza Waredaan" that I have difficulties in understanding. sad1.gif

dikhaii diye yuu.n ke beKud kiyaa
hame.n aap se bhii judaa kar chale
dikhaii diye yuu.n ke beKud kiyaa

I caught a glimpse of her and lost control of my senses
I got separated from myself

jabii.n sajda karte hi karte gaii
haq-e-bandagii ham adaa kar chale
dikhaii diye yuu.n ke beKud kiyaa
dikhaii diye yuu.n

I prostrated (bowed) so much that my forehead gave way
I thus have comleted my obligations (to God) as a human being.
jabii.N : forehead

parastish kii yaa.n tak ke ai but tujhe
nazar mein sabho ki Kuda kar chale
dikhaii diye yuu.n ke beKud kiyaa
dikhaii diye yuu.n

I worshipped you so much O idol
that everyone now views you as God.

bahut aarzoo thii galii kii teri
so yaa.n se lahuu me.n nahaa kar chale
dikhaii diye yuu.n ke beKud kiyaa
dikhaii diye yuu.n

I yearned so much for you abode (lane)
that I come bathed in my own blood.

Do you want the meanings of taazaa waridaan also, if yes please write the first full line and maybe the first words of the stanzas which have been sung by Rafi saab.

Oh I thought this was easy urdu Unni Bhai, and thanks Asad bhai for taking up the work.
asad
ai taaza waaridaan-e-bisaat-e-hawaa-e-dil
zinhaar agar tumhe.n hawas-e-naay-o-nosh hai

You, who have just arrived to quench the thirst of the desires of your heart
Beware! of your lust for drink

daaG-e-firaaq-e-sohbat-e-shab kii jalii huii
ek shamma rah gaii hai so vo bhii Kamosh hai

That which was lit (and which was a reminder of the pain of last ) night's separation.
Even that lamp is now silent (extinguished)

aate hai.n Gaib se ye mazaamii.n Kayaal me.n
Gaalib sariir-e-Kaama navaa-e-sarosh hai

These topics come to mind from that which is unrevealed (unknown/heavens)
Ghalib the sound of the Pen is the sound of Archangel Gabriel

navaa-e-sarosh: Gabriel (Jibreel) through whom God transmits his message.

Unni Bhai I don't know which other verses are included in the song. If you could give an indication, I would love to provide my TuuTaa phuuTaa translations.

The best couplet according to me (not in the song but in the ghazal) is :-
Koi na umeedanah karte nigaah
so tum ham se munh bhi chipa kar chale

This thread made my day.....i was struggling to understand this song....I get drawn to this song, each time I listen to it......wow!! beautiful lyrics....I found the following stanzas in one other website,
Could someone pls translate these lines too...

Fakirana ae sada kar chale
Miya khush raho hum dua kar chale

Jo tujh bin na jeene ka kehte hum
So us Ahad ko ab wafa kar chale

Asad ji, pardon my questioning, I hardly have any knowledge of urdu, only a yearning to learn the language....For the third para in the movie song: I found the last line as

So yaas-e-lahoo mein naha kar chale

From ebazm.com, i found that "yaas" means despair or dejection, would that change the meaning of that sentence, or is it indeed "yahan se".....

Also, has Lataji sung only three paras in the movie or were the other paras set to music as well? Is there any album available?

I would appreciate any inputs..........

thanks

It is 'So yaaN se lahu meiN...', YaaN is a obsolete word of Urdu, meaning same as 'YahaaN'.

Yes, Lata Ji sang only three couplets in the movie.
