(Jeetendra) Tohfa (1984)

Here is yet another film with the usual masala ingredients that was expected from the films made in South, especially during this period in early 80's. There is Jeetendra teamed here with both Jaya Prada and Sridevi. There is Shakti Kapoor who is joined with Kader Khan. There is Bappi Lahiri doing his usual stuff while Indeewar again writing the lyrics. There is plenty of Asha and Kishore. But the difference this time was the movie had a bit of story. That combined with catchy songs helped it to become a hit. Bappi was even nominated for the Best Music Director Award by Filmfare. Bappi was nominated not once or twice but three times for the Filmfare Award in 1984. These were "Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki", "Sharaabi", and "Tohfa". He won the award for "Sharaabi". Indeewar was nominated for the Best Lyricist Award for the title song but lost to Hasan Kamal for the title song from "Aaj ki Awaz".

Here are these popular songs from an original soundtrack album...

(Amitabh) Major Saab (1998)

This was the third film Amitabh's own company produced. Finally Amitabh played a role of an experienced officer instead of his usual angry young man's role that made him initially famous. With several good songs, the movie was a modest hit.

Songs for this film were written by Anand Raj Anand and Dev Kohli. I do not have a breakdown of who wrote which song. Please kindly share this information if you can. Thanks.

Here are the songs from this album...

Raz,

I am not too good at this but can give it a try. Please note that because I don't know or understand Punjabi the task is even harder.

Cheers,
S

(Amitabh) Biwi No. 1 (1999)

This movie deals with the subject of a philandering husband who supposedly had a happy and contained family. The big difference here is that instead of a usual weeper, in the hands of the director David Dhawan, what we have is a comedy. Dhawan showed with his previous work that he can be best when it comes to comedy. This movie is an example of why that is so.

"Biwi" was based on a Tamil film, the story of which was attributed to the actor Kamal Haasan. What makes the Hindi film engaging is two lively performances by Sushmita Sen and Anil Kapoor. Sushmita, a world recognized beauty, never was able to break through the ranks and files of the Bombay film world. But in this movie she did the best of her opportunity. Anil Kapoor, who has proven time and again that what a real pro he is, was also a riot. To add to all the zaniness, there are several catchy and hit songs. Music director Anu Malik along with the co music director Sukhwinder Singh helped the mood of the film with some of their best work.

Amitabh along with Saif Ali Khan had guest appearances in this big hit film. I am uploading popular songs from this film in two back-to-back posts. Here is the first set...

(Amitabh) Hello Brother (1999)

This comedy was produced and directed by actor Salman Khan's younger brother Sohail Khan. It starred Salman and his other younger brother Arbaaz Khan. Amitabh supplied the voice of the God in the film.

This movie had two music directors; Himesh Reshammiya (HR) and the duo Sajid & Wajid (SW). I have used these abbreviations (HR & SW) preceding the description of each song in the tables below to give credit to proper music directors.

I am uploading all songs from this film in two back-to-back posts. The first post contains all the songs from the film. The second post has several remixes.

Here are the songs in the first post...
