(Jeetendra) Himmat (1970)
I am uploading songs from this film, all except for one from an original soundtrack album, in two back-to-back posts on request. The song "Himmat Kare" is due to the Forum members. Thank you. Unfortunately, this song has several skips between 3:25 to 3:45 minutes. Therefore, I am also including a shortened version of the same song without this antara. The shorter version is even though not complete, is at least clean without skips. Here are the songs in the first post... Attached image(s) ![]() |

(Sunil) Post Box 999 (1959) Before Kalyanji and Anandji became a team, Kalyanji was a solo music director. He gave music to about 10 or so films before teaming up with his brother Anandji. This popular album is one of his solo efforts. Several songs from this film became hits. A couple of them were chart busters. Both of these were duets, one by Lata and Mannada, "Mere Dil Mein Hai Ek Baat" and the other by Lata and Hemantda, "O Neend Na Mujh Ko Aaye". I am uploading songs from this album on request in two back-to-back posts. The first post contains songs from the film, all from an original soundtrack album. The second post contains several extended version songs. Here are the songs in the first post... Thanks! A great early effort from Kalyanji! |

(Rajendra) Star (1982)
Biddu (see the picture below) or Biddu Appaiah hailed originally from Karnataka. He is a composer, lyricist, and music producer. He settled in England when he was very young. During early 70’s he produced and composed several hit records. He gave a boost to the careers of British singers like Tina Charles, Carl Douglas, and Jimmy James. He was also responsible for launching Nazia Hassan’s career. He produced several Indian pop music albums. Among these is the album “Made in India” with Alisha Chinai as the singer. Many people believe that the success of that album augured Indian pop music. Incidentally Biddu initially approached Nazia to sing the songs for that album but because of the title and the songs in the album she declined to do it. Biddu also produced several pop instrumental albums under the name of Biddu Orchestra. He is still active and his current interests are centered mainly on spiritual subjects including eastern philosophy. Nazia Hassan (see the picture below), born in Pakistan, was only 15 years when she sang the song “Aap Jaisa” in “Qurbani”. While shooting portions of the movie in England, the actor, producer, and director of the movie “Qurbani (1980)”, Feroz Khan, was introduced to Nazia by Biddu, a friend of Khan. Feroz gave her the opportunity to sing in “Qurbani”. The song “Aap Jaisa Koi” became an overnight sensation and brought her recognition throughout the world. She won the Filmfare Award as the Best Female Singer for that song. Based in England, with her singer brother Zoheb Hassan she released several albums. She sold over 55 million albums all over the world in a short span of time. She retired early to focus on her personal life. She gave away all the monies earned in charity. Nazia lived a very simple life devoting most of her time for charities. She was only 35 when she passed away from the complications resulting from lung cancer. Zoheb Hassan (see the picture below) is the brother of Nazia Hassan. He developed interest in music when he was in late teens. He started taking guitar lessons from several prominent teachers and before long became very good at it. When his family shifted to London, he along with his sister made a singing team. They released several albums, most of them runaway best sellers. The soundtrack of the film “Star” was based on their hit album released earlier as “Star/Boom Boom”. Nazia appeared in the film singing the song “Boom Boom”. When Nazia got married and decided to quit singing, Zoheb also became inactive. After Nazia’s unexpected death at a tender young age, he called it quits. Zoheb currently runs his own company, a leading media and entertainment company in Pakistan. I am uploading songs from this album in two back-to-back posts. Here are the songs in the first post... This post has been edited by swarapriya: Aug 16 2011, 11:53 PM Attached image(s) ![]() ![]() |
