(Meena) Bheegi Raat (1965)
Here is one of the finest album from Roshan Saab. Every song from this album is an utter delight. They were all chart-busters when the film was initially released. They still continue to give endless enjoyment to the listeners. It is not just the songs that are great in this film. Its background music also is very beautiful. I am uploading the songs and the music and some specials in three back-to-back posts. The first post contains all the songs from the film. The second post contains several music clips. The dual song "Dil Jo Na Keh Saka" became so popular that it became one of the staple songs of many of the aspiring singers. In the third post I am including several versions of this song. Now for the songs in the first post... This post has been edited by swarapriya: Jan 21 2012, 01:37 AM Attached image(s) |

Concluding Songs from "Bheegi Raat (1965)"...
I am including several version songs of the ever popular "Dil Jo Na Keh Saka" song. Three of these, including an instrumental on the sax by Manohari Singh, are from CDs. The other songs are all from You Tube. Some of these are good and others just fair. Details are given in the table below. Now for the songs... (Meena) Jadui Angoothi (1965)
It is kind of a surprise that Meenaji was still playing in these kind of costume dramas this late in her career. Anyway, I was able to find only two songs of this film from You Tube that I am sharing them below. Please kindly share any of the missing songs you may have. Thanks. Here are the two songs I have... (Meena) Phool aur Patthar (1966)
This was a star making movie for Dharmendra. Interestingly he was the second choice for the role as Sunil Dutt was not immediately available to play the lead. Dharamji seized the opportunity to scorch the screen with a firebrand performance. He brought the ruggedness and the manliness with his personality and ignited the screen in some scenes. Much before Salman Khan made it popular to take off his shirt to show off his physique even if it is not necessary to do, Dharmendra did this in this movie in a very unforgettable scene. He did this not to show off his physique but because the scene demanded it. O.P. Ralhan who produced and directed this film, also acted in it. While making the movie he had differences that evolved into friction with Dharmendra. Dharam almost quit the movie in protest. However better senses prevailed. Many think that this was because Dharam was romantically involved with Meena as she was going through a rough time in her marriage. Whatever the reasons are, in the end when the movie was completed it became a sensational hit. Dharam was nominated as the Best Actor Filmfare Award for his performance. However, he lost to Dev Anand who took the award for the fine movie "Guide". The music by Ravi also helped the movie's popularity immensely. All of Asha's numbers became very popular as was Rafi Saab's solo "Mere Dil Ke Andar". I am uploading all the songs from an original soundtrack album below. For some reason the quality of one of the songs, "Tum Kaun", is not that crisp. If you can bear with it for about a minute or so, which is mostly music, then the later part of the song settles down and is fine. Now for the details of the songs and the songs themselves... (Meena) Pinjre Ke Panchhi (1966)
More you know about Salil Chowdhury, the noted music director of Bengali, Hindi, and Malayalam films, the more you want to know about him. (See his picture below). Most of us know him as a great composer. But he was much more than that. He was a poet, playwright, story writer, screenplay writer, and director. For example, he wrote the story and screenplay for this film apart from composing its music and directing the film. Salilda was a musical genius. He was an expert with many different types of musical instruments. He grew up in the hills of Assam and much of his music drew inspiration from this. He was a member of the Indian Peoples Theater Association (IPTA), the cultural wing of the Communist Party of India. This was when he was barely 20. It gave him an opportunity to travel all over West Bengal to bring his songs and music even to remote villages. For this film he utilized talents of lyricists Shailendra and Gulzar. Shailendraji wrote all but one song for the film. Gulzarji wrote the other song. Gulzar also wrote the dialogues. Hrishikesh Mukherjee, a notable director already, was the editor of the film. This film was made in Bengali and Hindi. Both solos by Lata are just exquisite. I am also uploading Bengali versions of these two solos here. Here is the sweet treat… Attached image(s) |
