It is a lovely, evocative song... Hindi cinema has benefitted tremendously from the contributions of some of the finest poets of India... Wish there was more information about them and their contributions:

Saluting to poetic-heart owners - BC & Madhavi.
Thankyou Madhavi Ji for the useful link . During school days, I heard from my teachers that 'Sumitranandan Pant(seated in centre) was most handsome poet during that era but his poems are much more beautiful'. The photo is concrete proof of the sayings. I was in love with his one poem during school days ... Kanon Mein Gudhal Khonse, Dahval Zuhi Kuner, .........................., Veh Gauuon Sang Karti Van-Vihaar, Pik Chatak Ke Sang De Pukar, Pee-Kahaan, Pee-Kahaan.
