Last weekend I spent 2 awesome days in the ruins of Vijayanagar Kingdom in Hampi.

The expanse of the kingdom is something to be seen. The history comes alive in front of eyes when you see the broken structures that were once great monuments. It is sad to see how destruction can take a toll on the rich memoirs of our history sad1.gif

For people who do not know where Hampi is - Hampi is in northern part of Karnataka.

Hanuman carved on the pillars - Achutraya Temple (named after the King)

Entrances of the temple.. you can see the top part of the entrance has been destroyed(bricks were used to construct the top dome and has probably been destroyed during the wars and further affected by the weathering)

Whats the nearest big city from there? Did you drive to the place or took transportation? Please share more info about your trip when you get a chance. Thanks smile1.gif

Na re.. From Bangy we took an overnite train and stayed at Hospet. From Hospet it is about a 30-40 min drive to Hampi!!
