Interviewed yes but he does not have any recordings as he informed during his recent programs on Rafisaab. I think he must have also accompanied Rafisaab during his live shows. Some one can confirm.

Best Regards

In the video section, we can hear Amin Sayani talking a few words about Rafi Sahab along with Nausad.

His style is very similar to US Radio host Kacey K Son or somebody like that. I don't know who got inspired by whom.

Among the half-a-dozen live performances of Rafi-sahab that I have attended in the late 60's/early 70's, two were were on consecutive evenings at the S.I.E.T. College in Chennai (then called Madras). The shows featured a galaxy of some of the top singers of HFM: Mukesh, Mahendra Kapoor, Manna Dey, Suman Kalyanpur and Usha Khanna, apart from Rafi-sahab. And Amin Sayani was the announcer/presenter for the shows.

On both nights, Rafi-sahab, as the highlight of the show, took the stage after the other singers and sang the most number of songs.

Some snippets from those evenings:

Rafi-sahab amusingly changed the lines of the "Love in Tokyo" song to "Le gayi dil, goodiya Madras ki".

He took liberties with other songs, but when it came to "Jiyo tho aisey jiyo" it was virtually a carbon-copy of the original recording --- MD Ravi was seated in the front row!

There was a request from the audience for Manna Dey to sing his popular "Aao twist karen", but he declined "in deference to the presence of elders".

During the show there was an announcement for some member of the audience ---to the effect that his wife had delivered a baby! The guy apparently had his priorities right. After all babies arrive every day, but not great singers!

In the middle of Rafi sahab's performance, two local workers came on stage to garland him --- a special gesture just for him, as a token of appreciation from the ordinary common folk to whom he gave so much enjoyment.

On the second night, after all the performances, Amin Sayani invited each singer in turn to come back on stage. And there they stood all together. Except for one person --- Rafi-sahab. Mr. Sayani had forgotten to announce his name! The audience could see Ms. Usha Khanna whispering something in Mr. Sayani's ears --- we could guess what! Then, Amin Sayani made a special introduction of Rafi-sahab as the "shahanshah" of playback singers, and as Rafi-sahad walked on to the stage the audience burst out with a louder round of clapping and cheering.

Good Stuff UKM,

Cheers

PLAYBACK SINGING STARTS AND ENDS WITH RAFISAAB. IN TERMS OF QUALITY, CONSISTENCY & VERSATILITY, RAFISAAB IS INFINITE LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF ALL SINGERS BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER HIM.
