Good post Vidur

Shyam Sunder was definitely one of the greatest composers. By the way, there are pre Nai Kahani films and non-film songs that Shyam Sunder composed.

I have songs from two 1942 Punjabi films - there may have been others as well. The songs I have are:

1942 Patwari - Shamshad, Naseem Akhtar - Goriye Soniye Na Kar Gumaan
1942 Raavi Paar - GM Durrani, Rajkumari - Gaai Ja Tu Geet Panchiya
1942 Raavi Paar - Rajkumari - Raavi Paar Basera

We also know he composed some early non-filmi Punjabi songs for Rafi. In fact Rafi's first song (never uploaded on the web) is Goriye Nee Soniye Nee, which is a Shyam Sunder composition.

I'll wait for you to reach the Bazaar post to understand which song(s) Husnlal-Bhagatram composed. I was not aware of any...

Kind Regards
Faraaj

Sorry for late response Sir, you are most welcome and thanks a lot for your appreciation. I see that you have a lot of rare gems, and looking forward to your uploads here as well! smile1.gif

There were some misses in the filmography, so I have edited it. Do let me know if there is still more missing and I will see to it.

Continuing with his third film Bhai (1944). His co - composer was Ghulam Haider Ji and the main singers were the versatile artists with fabulous voices, Zeenat Begum Ji, Naseem Akhtar Ji and the talented Ghulam Haider Ji himself. Zeenat Ji and Naseem Akhtar Ji were very popular Hindi and Punjabi singers of the 1940s, and also my most favourite. Both possessed distinct, unique, weighty and sweet voices. This was, incidentally the third year in the filmi careers of both, since they debuted in 1942, that too with the same film! (Mangti, Punjabi - music Pandit Gobindram Ji). Both were favourites of these 2 composers.

Following is the list of the film's songs:

1. Jhoolon Ki Aayi Hai Bahar, Bahar Sakhi Jhoolo - Zeenat Begum Ji, Dilshad Begum Ji (thanks to Viraj Ji)
2. Hindu Muslim Sikh Isayi, Aapas Mein Hain Bhai - Bhai (Title song) - Zeenat Begum Ji, Chorus (thanks to Viraj Ji)
3. Teri Nagri Phire Banjara Gori - ?
4. Kuch Yaad Dilati Hain Hamein Beeti Huwi Baatein - Naseem Akhtar Ji
5. Dheere - Dheere Ga Re Panchi, Dheere - Dheere Ga - ?
6. Saajan Aaja Raajan Aaja, Khelein Dil Ke Khel - Zeenat Begum Ji, Ghulam Haider Ji - 128 kbps, 3.04 min

7. Is Dil Ki Haalat Kya Kahiye - Naseem Akhtar Ji - 128 kbps, 3.12 min

8. Duniya Ki Ye Khushi Hai Tujhe Bhool Jaayen Ham - Zeenat Begum Ji.

I have only songs 6 and 7, and am uploading these lovely and rare melodies here for the enjoyment of our dear friends. They (and you biggrin.gif ) are requested to upload the remaining.

Sorry for late reply Sir. Thanks a lot for your appreciation and information. Many such early composers had such unique exquisiteness in their compositions.

I have updated the list along with 2 more films - Jangi Jawan (1943) and Urvashi (1943). Please do tell me if there are more misses. I too will update if I come to know of any.

I have the 3 songs you mentioned, and also 4 more from Patwari. It would be great if someone could kindly give us the track listing for these 2 films, so that we can come to know of missing songs (especially Raavi Paar; there can't be only 2 songs! smile1.gif )

Uploading the 5 Patwari (1942) melodies for the enjoyment of dear members. Will upload the Raavi Paar songs soon. Details of the songs as below, all 128 kbps:

1. Aaya Na Chan Mahi - Shamshad Begum Ji, Naseem Akhtar Ji - 2.40 min

2. Kalian Kalian Badlian - Shamshad Begum Ji - 3.16 min

3. Na Kar Guman Gore - Shamshad Begum Ji, Naseem Akhtar Ji - 2.55 min

4. Pee Le Pee Le Jaam Sharabi - Naseem Akhtar Ji - 2.32 min

5. Vag Vag De Chanan Deya Panjan - Shamshad Begum Ji - 2.50 min

Iam also intensely looking for Soniye Ne Heeriye Ne which is Rafi Ji's duet with another one (aprat from Rafi Ji) of my favourties, Zeenat Begum Ji. This was from Gul Baloch (1944, begun in 1941).

My apologies, because there were pre - Nai Kahani Shyam Sundar Ji films. But in Hindi, the same year 1943, there was Jangi Jawan as well. Do you know which came first? With reference of Geet Kosh, I will be updating his filmography there soon. I also remember seeing him as one of the composers of Urvashi (1946). Regarding the composers of Bazar (1949), Husnlal - Bhagatram Ji are mentioned in the film, but not in records or Geet Kosh! But, in Noor Jehan Ji's classic Mirza Sahiban (1947), only Pandit Amarnath Ji is mentioned in the film titles but even Husnlal - Bhagatram Ji are mentioned in the records! biggrin.gif

Enjoy!

Proceeding with Bhaijan (1945), a classic starring singing stars Noor Jehan Ji and Anees Khatoon Ji.
Noor Jehan Ji refused to record her 5 songs, so Zeenat Begum Ji sang the recorded versions of those songs. Both were equally exceptional and unique, so was another great singer in this film, S. D. Batish Ji, with a solo. The song list is as below. Request members to contribute the rare missing numbers. Luckily one Noor Jehan Ji version (filmi version) is available and uploading it here for all to enjoy. happy.gif

I believe this rarest of the rare film was forecasted on Doordarshan when Noor Jehan Ji came to India in 1982 - 83. Request anyone holding a copy/recording to please, please provide songs.

All 128 kbps:

1. Ae Baad-E-Saba Kuch Tune Suna, Wo Jalwa Dikhanewale Hain - Noor Jehan Ji/

Zeenat Begum Ji

2. Chupke Se Dil Mein Aa Base, Rehke Nazar Se Door - Door - Noor Jehan Ji/

Zeenat Begum Ji - 2.47

3. Apne Na Ho Sake Jo, Dil Ka Qarar Hokar - Noor Jehan Ji/

Zeenat Begum Ji

4. Aaja Bedardi Aaja, Dil Mein Sama Ja - Noor Jehan Ji/

Zeenat Begum Ji

5. Aa Hosh Mein Deewane, Aa Hosh Mein - S. D. Batish Ji

6. Begum Janiyan Ki God Bhari - Noor Jehan Ji, Chorus / Zeenat Begum Ji, Chorus

7. Kamliwale Mujhe Kamli Mein Le Le - ?

8. Malik Mere Maabud Mere Palnewale - ?

9. Rut Yahi Suhani Aayi Guiyyan - Chorus Song

Enjoy and thanks in advance for the missing numbers!

Continuing with Village Girl AKA Gaon Ki Gori (1945), which is a Noor Jehan Ji classic. The film had the great Mohammed Rafi Ji's first recorded Hindi song (with G. M. Durrani Ji and chorus): Aji Dil Ho Qabu Mein To Dildar Ki Aisi Taisi. A film that proves how many great 1940s singers Shyam Sundar Ji used. Here is the first part of list of this film's songs which I'm uploading now.

All 128 kbps:

1. O Pardesi Raja, Koyal Kook Rahi Aaja - Shanta Patel Ji (singing star), Amirbai Ji, Rajkumari Ji, Chorus (picturised on Shanta Patel Ji, Chandrika Ji and co.) - twice back-to-back in file

2. Aji Dil Ho Qabu Mein To Dildar Ki Aisi Taisi - Mohammed Rafi Ji, G. M. Durrani Ji, Chorus (picturised on Nazir Ji, Bikram Kapoor Ji and co.)

3. Main Kheton Ka Panchi, Mere Pankh Nirale - Noor Jehan Ji (sung for herself, of course)

4. Hazaron Khwaishen Aisi Ki Har Khwaish Mein Dam Nikle....Haan Tune Dekha Ik Nazar Aur Dil Ka Chaska Kar Diya - Amirbai Ji, Kalyani Ji, Rajkumari Ji, Zohrabai Ji (picturised on Zohrabai Ji, Rehana Ji and co - many popular actresses who appear in a number of 1940s songs - just don't know their names)

5. Ye Kaun Hansa, Kisne Sitaron Ko Hansaya - Noor Jehan Ji (singing for herself)

6. Sajan Pardesi, Balam Pardesi, Man Ko Sataye - Noor Jehan Ji (singing for herself)

Enjoy!
