Hi friends

Even being a Rafi/Lata Fan I have high regards for the other artists especially Kishore.He was a versatile genious.
I consider Rafi's voice as 'divine' where Kishore had 'manly and heavy voice' which suited the likes of Amithab bhachan.Kishore having the highest regards of Rafi and vise verse.It is only fans who are having high eago and complex have an issue with it.

sorry sonu bro, this is not a logical statement, first of all its not the character of the singer but the character of the fans that is being discussed secondly its the need of we fans who love to listen to his songs, not him.

I agree it is not a logical statement. But emotionally it is 100% correct. Humans are not computers to work on logic. They act on emotions. If Rafi fans behave stupidly, it will dissuade the fence-sitters who are the future potential Rafi fans.

Please do not mind my saying so. But, you need to bring about some consistency between your strong, emphatic signature line and what you keep writing here. Only one of the two is true and is coming from your heart, not both!!! Your signature line is: "When it comes to singing, first comes Rafi saab. Then comes God."!!!!

Incidentally, what do you mean by 'fence-sitters' in the context of music fans, as if this is some political affair!!! 'Rafi Fans', with their great knowledge of music, will always remain Rafi Fans with ever-growing passion and ever-increasing respect for the great man. Rafi community has thousands of fully committed fans and does not need any fence sitters in its camp.

Even after 30 years of his passing away, Rafi Fan community is ever-growing, just because of the sheer greatness of the work done by the maestro during his life time. Sonu Ji needs no 'worry' on this count!!!

Ashraf ji I have great regards for u coz u r from south ! but would like to add my views to yours.

Ashraf ji for each fan his idol's voice or music is divine. I have seen people worshipping music directors. seen fans of other singers(not Rafi) weep while singing their songs.

Ashraf ji every artist has to be bit diplomatic. you cant be straightforward in ur interivews. do you think Rafi , kishore or others always used to say from their heart?? Film industry mein rehkar yeh sab karna bahut muskil hai !

( check wat happens to when likes of Abhijit or himesh start saying things from heart. !)

Venkat ji IMO lovers of old music(50s 60s and 70s) are decreasing day by day. so shd be popularity of artists of that era including singers rafi , kishore etc and MDs and lyricists like SJ, Majrooh, OPN etc .

I wont debate the topic of no of Rafians .Even If I belive you that Rafians are in huge in nos or are increasing. my Q still will be, can we/you afford to increase no of Rafi haters? dont you think artists of the calibre of Rafi shd COMMAND respect among all class of music lovers without any buts and ifs?

No matter how big a fan is......... HF is a moderated forum and one cant degrade any artist.

I have shared all this coz I have done similar mistakes and such mistakes do happen by all of us.

Seems you have no regret over your choice of words( may be bcoz YOB was the one to object). But if we ignore this incident........we/you wont be able to say much in future if some other fan uses same words for some other artist or for your own idol !

Venkat ji Iam different from you. Iam a music fan not singer fan. for me composers and lyricsts come first. if you insist on my idol from music , it will be Majrooh sab. the one who wrote lyrics of most of all top 10 fav songs.

wrt singers : I started off as kishore n mukesh fan in my teens and it was lterz that I started listening to Rafi .

I do differentiate between one's fav and one's best artist.( so shd others ) so if kishore has slight edge as fav singer...... then for me Rafi is best ! .when I say best I mean better then all male singers.

my comments or posts in this thread were as general music fan not as Rafi fan or Kishore, lata etc fan !

By now, you do know that I am a fan of pre-1970 HFM and a fan of most singers of pre-1970 HFM, Talat, Manna Dey, Mukesh, Kishore, Hemant, Lata (her singing), Asha (her singing), etc.

But, I, along with innumerable members here, am a much bigger fan of Rafi Saab as I rightly consider him the best playback singer of all times.

Now, if you once again go on your pet theme that all are exactly equal and identical, etc., I can only ignore you.

You are missing the point. No one says they are equal and identical. they had different style, personality
and quality. Were they all great and diserv our respect ? Absolutley in my opinion.

I know very well you worship Rafi and to you he is the greatest. I admire your devotion.
To me Mukesh is the artist/person who I adore and he is my no. one singer. Now we can argue till the end of time weather you are a bigger fan of Rafi than I am of Mukesh and won't reach an aggrement. I like Rafi a lot and consider my self a big fan of his. I am a huge Lata fan as a singer and person. I also like other singers to varing degree. But I respect them all. I had a chance to see most of the legends except Kishorda
and feel we were blessed to have such talented and humble artist.

As to who is the best is subjective. To each one his own. As long as you believe Rafi saab is the best
and I am feel Mukesh ji is best that all that matters. You can discuss their merits, But if we have to defame-discredit another artist to prove our point then I feel we are also insulting the artist we are promoting.
After all they are great on thier own merits and not beacuse of fans.

I don't feel I have much to add on this subject.
