There in this forum a few requests have been made for this song
during the last two years. So here it is.... enjoy.
It is a folk song orignating from UP. Afaik, its first recording
was made between 1902 and 1908.
Shamshad's song was recorded but not used in the movie.
Aabroo 1943 had it by Watsala K but it was not issued on 78 rpm.

Lyrict of the movie usually takes the credit as he normally introduces
a new stanza. One stanza in Pakeeza and Himmit differs.

Thank you very much for the rare treat. Can you please confirm whether the speed of the song is normal one. It seems upon listening that the speed is a bit slow and perhaps due to this Shamshad sounds different in the song compared to her normal sharp and clear voice.

has advised that file length of 175 seconds should be just right.

i came to know from another source,
that the other song on record is ..

mai hoon rani...duet
it is either sung by:
ghumal haidar and umrao zia begum
or
karim dad and umrao zia begum

and i could arrange a short clip of the same..
which i am uploading here..

As far as Shamshad Begum is concerned - the soul of her singing is the innocence... there is no attempt whatsoever to hide that innocence with murkis / superficial alaaps and other cosmetic effects... she just sings for herself... right out of her Soul... for the Content of her Soul...

What a wonderful Description Sachin ji. Captures my feelings about her singing well.

Yes this is the song on the other side of the record but the voices are not of
Mr and Mrs Ghulam Haider. I have not heard karim dad.

i have another record from the same film i.e. himmat..41
a duet of karim dad and female singer..
which comes like this..
ye baat bata saajan..
but there is a bit difference in the voices..of the male singer
in the song mai hoon rani and ye baat bata saajan..
