Harishankar
If Master Ghulam Haider was known as "masterji" in Hindi film music circles, Hansraj Bahl was known as "chhote masterji" in those days. And Hansraj Bahl let his "mastery" shine through in composition after composition, whether it from nascent creations like Lata's 'Chunaria' heart-stealer, "Dil-e-nashaad ko jeene ki hasrat ho gayi tumse" in 1948 to Rafi's "Jahan daal daal par sone ki chidiya karti ho basera" a full 15 years later. Here, then, are three smooth-as-silk compositions from Hansraj Bahl's 'Apni Izzat', which includes Rajkumari's little known masterpiece, "Tumhen apna banaya tha main yeh bhi bhool jaoongi", with the unforgettable refrain "Magar bajti huyi shehnaiyan kaise bhulaoongi", a harback to the feeling way in which this singer rendered, 3 years earlier, those 'Mahal' classics, "Ghabraake jo hum sar ko takraaye to achha ho", "Ek teer chala dil pe laga" and "Main woh dulhan hoon raas na aaya jise singaar", alongside two soothing duets of Madhubala Jhaveri with Talat:

Inviting all to contribute these other 'Apni Izzat' numbers:

(1) Meethi meethi loriyan main dheere dheere gaoon re - Madhubala Jhaveri
(2) Hello bolo dil lo mil lo - Shamshad, Balbir & Harish
(3) Arre jadoogar toone yeh kya kiya ... O udankhatole - Madhubala Jhaveri, Shamshad & Balbir
(4) Kem chhe kem chhe kem kem kem - Shamshad & Balbir

Hari

P.S.: Speaking of Madhubala Jhaveri, if anyone has her 'Khaiber' duet with Mukesh, "Meri teri tamanna karta hoon taqdeer se lekin darta hoon", please post ... I will be grateful.
