Versatile Geniuses – Our Legends
Dear Doston,
I am (inspired by Humtum and Jhumroo Bhai) starting this topic to explore the greatness of legends who have given us so many songs to sing, listen, enjoy, relax and what not. I strongly believe that they all were great not only because they could sing well but also the mutual respect they had in their mind for each other. Not only that , they all were always appreciative of other’s good work, that is what made them great.

In this topic, we will be listing the song sung by these legends (Kishore da and other legends ( Rafi sahib, Mukeshji, Hemant da, Manna da etc.) based on similar themes and /or emotions.

The idea behind is to explore the songs sung by all legends vis-a-vis Kishore's rendition of the song's version or something similar. How the Music Directors used different voice to suit the different sequences and probably different actors too. For example Tum Bin Jaaon Kahan was portrayed on Bharat Bhushan (Kishore) and for Shashi it was Rafi. (Thanks HT Bhai)

This topic is not the place to compare these legends but to explore their versatility, range of singing and ability to generate emotions through singing (what made them great) and gain knowledge.

Members can also post write-ups, interesting stories and other materials about these legends, but please ensure that they are not politically motivated or generate bad taste.

For this topic we all should follow some ground rules,

(i) No uploads
(ii) No comparisons, who was better, who could sung better etc.
(iii) No bad feelings it is only to respect legends

Needless to say our legends have given us so many songs not just to listen and get entertained. There are times when we can build an imagination with the atmosphere they have built around the song.

Each song has a history and exploring and finding more about it keeps us not only interested but realize how much has gone into making that song.

I can listen to Mukesh all day every day. But enjoy old classics of
Lata,Rafi, Maana Dey, KK Asha, Talat, and of course Saigal, CH Aatma etc a great deal and have alot of respect and admiration for thier god given gift and dedication.

I think we were blessed to have so much talent that produced timeless
music during golden era.

Same is true for me I can listen any Mukesh Ji song 20 times in a row. But I can listen any good song of Lata Ji, Kishor Da, Rafi Sahab, Asha Ji, Geeta Ji, Manna Da, Talat Sahab and Hemant Da and Suman Ji 20 times in a row.

Recently I was hearing Lata Ji song "Nainonwali Ne haye Mera Dil Loota" from - "Mera Saya".
I am amazed by the way it was presented on screen. I would like this theme to be the part of this thread and discuss more on similar songs of other legends.

What theme can be more romantic when your wife is teaching you how to be romantic? Another effect was added by the pauses of the song and use of sher-o-shairy in the middle. You can also see trace of Punjabi folk dance "Gidhdha" in presentation of "Sadhana Ji".

Ok, talking about Dosti and friendship. Freroz Khan used that to core in his blockbuster Qurbaani. Agreed Rajesh (FK) and Amar (VK) lacked charisma of Jai (AB) and Veru (Dharam), let's not get into that since Sholay is a cult movie, but basis of Qurbaani was friendship and giving it up for a friend.

Amar gives Qurbaani in the end for Rajesh. This entire thing was brilliantly encapsulated within one song, Aallah ko pyaari hai Qurbaani. Song clutches on to the theme of movie very well. What else can best describe movie title but "hoo do haathon ki dekho shaan … yeh allah hai yeh bagwaan.. yaari meri kehti hai .. yaar pe kar de sab qurbaan…. Qurbaani .. Qurbaani"

Song has shaded of slow paced qawalli to fast paced assertive message of friendship. Way to go, thanks to KA for this number

wonder ful marcilo, zazba for qurbani or nibahana of dosti ka farz is one of the utmost esstintial thins for maintaining dosti. I still remeber the song picturisedd on Rajesh Kaka in Anurodh, whwer vinod mehra is being operated and rajesh is singing (off cousre wonder ful voice of kishore da) Jab Dard Nahi tha sine mein (dost serously ill) Tba khak maza tha jeene mein (now I konw the meaning of dosti when there is a risk of loosing him) abke shayad hum bhi roae sawan ke mahine mein ( the mausam which is known for happiness and enjoyment may become a sad one if I loose my freind). so not seeing you all on HF makes me worry.
