I came across this version of the song a few days ago, and was floored by Shalini, the up loader, for sharing SUCH a rare gem with us, besides the song itself.

I just LOVE the song!

The felicity with which Lata has negotiated SUCH a complex composition is incredible!

This version, however, differs significantly from the LP version- it's sung differently, is slightly longer etc.

If anyone has this version, s/he would do us a great, GREAT favor by uploading it here, and if possible (without meaning disrespect or denigration) in better quality than the video.

The version I have is, I believe, the LP version. I downloaded it from HF only, some time back. A (different) source told me that the song was not released in any other format, so, I assumed, without verifying, the source of my version. Nothing was mentioned in the original post, I must add.

My apologies if I goofed-up.

Here is the file I have:

I also love this song - one of Lata's best.

I have two versions - both downloaded from HF. The longer one sounds slightly better than the YouTube version but it could very well be that some member downloaded it from YouTube and cleaned it.

The shorter version is better quality but Saksham needs to confirm if its the LP version...

The music director, Mohd. Shafi, deserves praise for composing such a beautiful song, no doubt about that. However, I would like to argue, not necessarily contentiously, that the song borrows significantly from the traditional bandish in raag Bhairavi- more than I would deem to be acceptable for him to qualify as merely inspired by it.

Lata, OTOH, in three odd minutes, conveys the essence of the raag as if she was born with it!

I am dead-sure that I have heard Rafi version (currently can not locate in my whole database, it may be somewhere in Tape/CD), BUT strangley 'net' don't recognise 'Rafi Version' .
Isn't the same song sung by Rafi in the film ?

and......sumonez uploaded a 3rd version of this ong in another thread.....are u aware of it? thats also mukesh ka...of 3:48..and us mein kya extra hai...any idea?

Lata's version : I would not know, as I do not have the shorter version. The song uploaded is from the film soundtrack.

Mukesh's version: Same as above. The song with me is 3.52m long.

Both the songs have two verses each.

Perhaps extra music and longer verses?
