Popular Diva Lata Mangeshkar was today honoured with the first ever MTV Immies awards for her invaluable contribution to the world of music at a star- studded function at Goregaon in suburban Mumbai.

Presenting her the award, Immies Chief V J Lazarus described Lata as the leading choice of top female actresses from the black and white era to the MTV era.

"She has been the voice of over three generations and her incredible voice has mesmerised people for ages".

Leading actor Shah Rukh Khan was also presented with "the best male performer in a song" for film "Chalte Chalte" while noted writer Gulzar bagged the best lyrics award.

A R Rehman bagged the award for the best music composer at the function which was hosted by popular actor Saif Ali Khan and popular MTV anchor Cyrus Barocha.

The highlight of the function was a joint performance of the Pakistani band "Junoon" and its Indian counterpart "Euphoria".

The artists displayed a fusion flag carrying the tricolour and the emblem of the moon.

Among the artists who performed were Salman Khan, Yana Gupta and Esha Koppikar.

Must've been fun to watch.
Too bad I cancelled my subscription to MTV.

Perhaps we can relate this to the closing of ears.
