Aah, I have never seen "Aaj ki taaza khabar". My guess was based on
the fact that the song from UKU starts with her selling coconuts or other
fruit. SO I thought it might be one of those stage songs with Helen
dressed in fruit.

No no it is not a stage show. It is one of those imaginary songs. The suspicious heroine imagines her husband-hero in another woman's arms. It is the first song in the movie. I will be upping the video, if my net speed is decent by tomorrow.

I have one small observation regarding this song. This song is actually not a solo technically.
There is another famous singer singing La La La La in this song who hasn't been credited for it.
Or Let me create a quiz for this. Name her.

Its not Meena Kapoor. Can't be her also since she moved to Delhi in 1962 if I recall correctly and hasn't done much recordings later.
And why would Usha Khanna sing in an S.D. Burman song? (I don't think she's sung for any other music director).

(She's not credited for some other songs similarly like her only song for OPN in Aar Paar (Mohabbat Kar lo in which she is third singer with Geetaji and Rafi sahab).

That's really sad that she has not been credited more than once. But Hildebrand, is there any valid reason for the omission?

I also don't know the reason for this (politics in industry could be one).
She has sung very few lines in the songs and this too maybe responsible.

Of course not giving credit was not uncommon in those days for various reasons.
In some cases the vinyls used to be named differently often by names of heroines (I am told Mahal had credit as Kamini - name of madhubala's character instead of Lata). I have also heard that some private bhajans of Shamshad Begum were given credit as some hindu named singer for some sale reason.
In some cases cover versions may have found way in and remained uncredited.

Geeta ji is also uncredited I believe for some songs e.g. in Lajwanti.

Some of them maybe really human errors also. But to sum it up they (cases of not being credited) were not uncommon for other singers also particularly when they were trying to establish themselves. (Its still happening today when some upcoming singers sing few ines in chorus etc but don't get credit. Has been true for KK among others).

Some day we should compile on a thread, such songs where the singers went un-credited.

Meena Kapoor's voice is close to Geeta's.

Usha Khanna sang for 5-6 MDs. Seems that she got no invitation to
sing for SD.

Asha's voice has been used with a double effect and it does sound like she is singing with another singer having the same voice. RDB music, gives a good start with drums..

the other singer is usha mangeshker.she is credited on some records and cds.i am quite sure ,i have seen her name.

regarding ''mohabbat kar lo'' suman kalyanpur's voice is only present on film version of the song.the record version doesn't contain her voice.
