AXN banned for 'indecent' programme</b><font size=-1><font color=#6f6f6f>

<font size=-1>NEW DELHI: It's a first - according to many a dubious first. Outraged by a programme on AXN, 'World's Sexiest Commercials', the government on Wednesday got into the moral policing act and banned the channel until March 15.</font>

MORAL POLICING?
The headmistress mentality continues in the country. What's good taste? Is there any definition anywhere? Does not the taste change even in the kitchen. As long as no one is hurt, no privacy is intruded upon, no unhappiness created what's wrong with the late-night shows?
The programme in question was a late-night show about some sexy ads. To under this one, it requires mature sensibility and a certain level of the knowledge of English knowledge. So what was the point in banning AXN I fail to understand.
This has also to be seen in the background of the happenings in and around India. Gruesome Nithali murders have left even the western countries. The open ads of condoms and Aid-related matters on the TV Channels is the order of the day. Don't the children see them? Prostitutes are being elicitated by the government and celebrities and now given a soft name of Sex Workers. Rampant corruptions at all levels of the government exist. Brothels abound everywhere. Late-night smack and liquore parties are the happening things. Skimpy clothing in ads, local movies and song re-mixes and item numbers are rampant on the TV screens.
And now one with holier-than-thou attitude bans an English language channel for some ads which, I'm sure, only a few can understand..
When will we grow up?
