Thiruthuraipoondi Subramaniam Srinivasan, better known as S.S.Vasan (1903-1969) was among the most enterprising pioneers in the history of Tamil cinema who paved a trail-blazing path for future filmmakers. Vasan passed away in 1969, leaving the mantle to his son Balasubramanian, popularly called S.S.Balan. Balan had always preferred to attempt remakes of “proved subjects”, i.e. stories that had found successful celluloid adaptations in other languages, and it was Buthayana Maga Ayyu ((Buthayya’s son Ayyu)) now that caught his attention - He acquired the story rights forthwith, and set about making this movie a grand comeback for Gemini in 3 languages- Tamil, Telugu and Hindi in 1975.

He called it ellorum nallavare in Tamil. The film starred Muthuraman, Lokesh, Manjula, Jayanthi and Major Sundararajan. The Telugu adaptation, starring Shoban Babu and Manjula, was called andharu manchivare . And it was called ek gaon ki kahani (not to be confused with the 1957 Talat Mehamood-Mala Sinha starrer of the same name) in Hindi, having Rakesh Pandey, Lokesh, Jeevan and Manjula in its cast.

i think we need to make a distinction here

1.unreleased movie/film (but the music/songs are released officially) ek gaon.. and parakh fall in this category

2.unreleased song:here the song itself is unreleased like the aasman song..there seems to be about 70-80 such songs in private hands.Asha Bhonsle is supposed to be having some(from RD's tapes).These are the true unrealesed songs and no 1 above is not really unreleased!!!

so lets specify if the songs are 1 or 2 a/a

No, McG don't change it just because of what i said....unreleased is a controversial and dubious term in any case....now a film not released (say abandoned half way through) but songs released on disc, is that to be considered as released or unreleased? May be we could fix one set definition of unreleased and go ahead....so let us say a movie which was not released, we should consider its songs also as unreleased, no matter whether the songs came on tape, discs or not....i think this definition of relating to the release of movie would be the best....because songs might be out in some medium or the other in most cases thats why we are able to lay our hands on them .....just a suggestion....let us keep going ahead in any case......this is a great topic....

Kishoreda, whats actually ironical is that out of the rest 10, words of appreciation from just about two or so...sometimes wonder if its the ratio system which is at least ensuring in some way that people participate, (at least uploading if nothing else)....without that perhaps we could have had much lesser participation...so the system definitely seems to be working...

Having said that...Self regulation is the best regulation...i strongly believe in this here as well as in professional life....my request to everyone around would be come forward and participate in any possible way to make this place even more interesting...believe me there is no shame in either downloading or uploading, even if one were to do only that, but do speak up your appreciation/comments....

Just to clarify....there are three "MAA" movies where KK lend his voice. The ones that are uploaded here are two from "incomplete" film, & the other from the lone # from a 1976 version.
