I go with Bhosle - I guess it all boils down to what she herself writes. Now try Khayyam Khaiyyam Khaiyaam, etc laugh.gif

Bhonsle or Bhosle

I have been calling her Bhosle.

I guess both are correct, provided the second spelling is pronounced with a 'nasal' sound before the second syllable --- the 'chandrabindu' in Hindi lexicon (?), which English does not have.

But both are different names!!!! doh.gif
Not every one is Unnikrishnan or Unni Krishna. angry2.gif
I think someone asked Asha that and she said Bhosle. I too have always gone by that. VN book too has her signature in Hindi and NO chandrabindu.

I go with Deewani -if she writes Bhosle-that's her name

BTW--our Forum has it as Bhonsle

Priya
So does the site. But that can be rectified only by Pradeep.

I have known Asha Bhonsle since 1962. Her songs used to be listed in records with the name Asha Bhonsle. (At some point as Asha Mangeshkar).

The correct spelling, I think is Asha Bhonsle, since it gives an idea to the reader on how to pronounce it.

Notwithstanding, the spelling of her name is an overly trivial issue!
