Another great number of Lata I always loved a lot apart from my most fav. aayega aayega aayega aayegaa.. aayegaa aanewaala... from Mahal.
I juz remembered this.. Dil ko diya.. jaale ke gaya.. hai kaun mere tanhaayi mein... she sings it so softly.. amazing number
* i hope i have written the words correctly - KCPb check it )

I do agree with u Nimiiji...but can't encourage remixes...It kills the soul of the songs..The other day I watched "babuji dheere chalna" remix ...girls are dancing in this scene....is it a dance song?...I don't think so....I think Lataji has sung some great songs in 90s as well..The most remembering one are that of DDLJ.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Ashraf I am not in favour of LM of post 85's
I loved her voice before that
and esp the thin voice she had when she first came into HFM

In terms of "soft" singing, one of my personal all-time Lata favorites is: "Kooch dil ne kaha" (Anupama/Hemant Kumar).
If there is one thing I hold against my beloved Hindi film music, it is this:
Music directors cast high-pitched tunes that made the female singers shriek and male singers shout. Sure, they could carry the high notes, but it is not always pleasing to the ear. Just listen to Lata-ji in the title song of "Dil tera diwana" or Rafi-saheb in "Zindabaad, zindabaad", and you might agree with me.
Lata-ji herself is on record as having expressed her reservations to Jaikishen about the high pitch of "Rasik balma" (Chori-Chori).
