Devotional albums to bahut hain. How 'good' all these are and the year of release I am not too sure abt.

One is Om Namo Shivay. Music by Ravindra Jain--Good songs. I had uled some a long long time back before the 1987 deadline came into effect.

Then there is Ma Ki Mahima--not too great an album to my mind.

Again Hare Rama Hare Krishna with music by Nadeem Sharavan. Some nice ones.

I guess all these albums are post 1987.

The rest U have mentioned I guess. Anyone knows of any more?

Priya- can you recommend any one of the post-87 albums you've mentioned? My sister leaves for india in a few weeks and I'm coming up with a list of albums she needs to get for me

I would 'recommend' Om Namo Shivay. But doubt if U would find it. The last time I saw there was a T Series release with 4 songs from the album on one side and 4 songs by Anuradha Paudwal on the other.
The Ma Ki Mahima album is very rare. The Krishna bhajans maybe available.



When one is desperate to get a song one plays it online and records the streaming audio!!!! Poor quality rehta hai.

Mucho gracias for the bhajans. Great stuff! Sun ke man shant ho gaya.

The shabad "ek pita ekas ke hum" is from an album of 8 shabads composed by Singh bandhu, who are classical singers of the Sikh scriptures. They pulled off quite a coup on this album, getting Lata to sing 4 and Asha to sing 4 other shabads. I will ul the remaining tracks for both singers soon.

When was this album released? THis is different from the later "Baala mai
bairaagan ...." since Asha's voice is younger, not to mention fantastic. Manoneet
says that this is from an album called "Meera". Any more info on this?

Never heard of any album earlier. We still never figured out abt the early version of phagun ke din char which we all debated abt on the forum and U again came down heavily on the later version.

Can U believe what I just found--complained yest that my cd was bad. Played it right now and my media player showed the song as Can U something by Sean Paul!!!!! All English songs. Tho the Asha ones are playing. Had an earlier exp with HMV in an RDB-Gulzar album where I could hear other songs playing softly in the background. These guys use rewrittable cds or what??? Sheesh!!!!!

For a minute I wondered who that was!!!! What with Ur capital letters appearing where they are not wanted!!!!! Almost read it as Bappida!!!!

My previous post is more evidence in that line. U can mistake the bala voice but to forget the Jaidev songs!!!!! Never knew such things could happen!!!!!

I picked up this CD at one of the local bay area stores, it had an assortment of different meera bhajans by various performers and this piece figured there. It was not an all-Asha album at all. I agree the voice quality sounds like the Asha of yesteryears. Wish she had recorded some pure taans and bandishes at that time- they would've been a textbook for all budding classical musicians.

More Jaidev compositions were promised by someone with a long winded prologue on the acquisition, loss, reacquisition of the songs and what not, which U guys all most heartlessly made into a forum gang up against poor me, but the songs have not ensued till now. But I guess it is 'buDappa' again at work. Tch tch. But for the sake of Miss Chatterji I will say no more.
