Listening to the music of "Taj Mahal - An Eternal Love Story" by Naushad saaheb, I was pleasantly surprised, for there are quite a few gems in it that are every bit reminiscient of old days. This soft musical album with its collection of tracks is more like a ghazal album than a movie soundtrack.

There is pandit Ajoy Chakraborty singing a beautiful classical song "Yeh Kaun Mujhe Yaad Aaya" with just a tanpura humming in the background.

Then, there is Hariharan singing "Apni Julf mere" with a long musical prelude that seems to set up a story. It sounds similar to the eternally haunting "Ek Bas Tu Hee nahin Mujhse Khafa Ho baitha" by Mehdi Hasan saaheb. I think I had uploaded this ghazal before but I can upload again, if anyone is interested.

I also liked Dilruba Dilruba by Preeti Uttam and Hariharan.

Overall, a very good album to listen to.

Yes, Azgar that's a good one too, even if it's mostly instrumental.

The music on this track brings to mind a caravan passing in an endless desert with people riding on camels singing in neither a despondent nor exuberant mood. It is as if Naushad saaheb created this as a pretty matter of factly rendition.

I shall take my sweet time in digesting this lovely piece of music Lord Anu. But, I'm pretty sure that if you're recommending it, it must be good.
