thanks for the appreciation, i am really flattered

during my college days, i sang rafi more than a dozen times on stage, actually i was known as the 'rafi' of my college

even here in birmingham, i am part of a singing group to keep my singing polished, i still only sing rafi.

it has taken me several years to adopt the style of rafi sahab, and the results are in front of you , now even if i sing a sanu song, it sounds more like how rafi would have sung it!!!(thats what my wife says)

i would love to fulfil your farmaish, but i only listen to and sing romantic/sad (love-related) songs (that also applies to sanu)

Don't get me wrong, Rafi sells. Its a franchise, its Mcdonalds its Pizza Hut... like I say it sells. It's a good trick to hold the masses. I'm curious as to why don't you sing KS at such events? Is it coz u don't deem urself worthy or do u think that it just won't appeal to the masses?

i was the second most popular singer in my college, the most popular by far was a guy called Dr Chandoria. he was a kumar sanu clone. in every college event, his song was always the highlight, and recieved the maximum applause.

i tried very hard to bring a 'rafi' revolution in my college, but failed, KS and KK were sung much more than rafi, and also appreciated more.

my professors probably really enjoyed my singing, but i guesss they were not as vocal as the students.

All of a sudden, I've lost the will to argue with u on this.

And ty 4 resurrecting Rafi, in ur college... u did ur atmost I'm sure of it.

The final - recording of our group - ( Me , Navaaz and one senior classical Guru - ) will in coming months and those recordings are for our private collections , . I knew there were some errors in mine ( i said it was a practice )
I also have recorded the following -- here the pREVIEW.

Mujhe ishq hai -- ( i have already uploaded ) and i know I struggled in antras

Akela hoon main is duniyaa mein - ( whenever i go to studio i never forget to practice this - since that was first song i did in studio ) Studio = its not that profesional -kaam chal jaata hai yaar-

Apni aankon mein basaakar koi ikraar ( here i sound like ataulla khan trying rafi )

Khoya Khoya Song ( chand ) - haha ( I find it comfortable to sing - wanna listen ) i liked my recording - i doono how but i find it easy .

Akele hain chale aao -My seniors liked it - but the antras made me cry . Man its tough ( we call such compositions - TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK ) hahaha .

Jhalkaaye jaam - all liked it . except me haha . well i was in rhtym this time .

Lakhoon hai hain nigah mein - i should have given some more effort - but you see when i sing with music - i get carried away and miss the notes . but in some lines you can see the UPS and DOWNS .

Zindagi bhar nahi bhulegi -- MD Roshan would have disliked his own composition for what i did with this-- hahaha -- but i tried to demo my high notes - and no need to remind me that this is RAGA ( yaman) based song .

Aaj mausam bada -- this is purely flop show . I will never upload this.

Suhaani raat dhal chuke - just did to pay tribute to -- YOU KNO W WHO . i have uploaded - did you like that ?

In my opinion, you both have really good voices. Meanwhile, here's "huzoor is qadar" that I tried a moment ago.

Your wife is the star of that song - thats all i can say(she completely overshadows) - but you are more lucky to have a jeevansathi - who CAN sing , warna aaj kal ki ladkiyan sining door ki baat - they dont even appreciate the old songs , but there are a few exceptions -- and on some personell ground -- i will be not surprised to find out that you are Maharashtraian ---- You have accent and singing style of them -- i hope my guess was right -- " mag kasse kay pahuna - ahe ki nahi dhammal " - { i have all marathi songs of rafi and have uploaded them 12 of them - excellent songs in MAS section )
lastly to add i have a good advantage of being understanding 6 to 7 languages - it helps in singing .

i am sorry to dissapoint you, but we are not maharashtriyan, i am from delhi while my wife is from bhopal (we are both working as doctors in UK)

i am sending you one more recording....i have just sung this after a busy days work, so my voice may sound a bit tired, but this is one of my all time favorite rafi ghazals, 'hum bekhudi mein tumko pukare chale gaaye'

Good effort....just work on the pronunciation! U will be ready 2 take the stage

Yaar , i didnt knew you posted that in MAS ( you know they dont allow even Great ANwar songs - hum log to bahut door ki baat .

any way i listened to your version of ghazal - and find it sooting - the difference i found in this song and your other posting is that you have filled this song with emotions - and it was also great setting since you were tired - It adds to effect - ALSO WHY NOT GET BACK TO OUR MAIN TOPIC jhalak INSTEAD OF CREATING A NEW - topic .

and iam also attaching my version of hum bekhudi - i recorded on P.C. after listening to your . this song is also having a small introduction start of a similar marathi song by rafi sahab - which i like very much .

it was a good amatuerish attempt - considering the tough compositions especially O duniya ke rakhwaale - it is a tough song to sing . keep it up , but try it at a higher pitch - and a little more voice input . any way - where is that kurtocobain guy - long time no postings from him ?

have you listened to my version of hum bekhudi mein in the file " verle " in the same page . i posted it for appreciating kurts choice of that tough composition .

here I managed to record on P.C while we were practicing a song with a Track ,
ME and Navaaz tried our voices on a difficult composition, Aanchal mein saja le na kaliyan .. ,
I reduced echo use - and our voice files and track files were orignally differnet , then i successfully mixed them again with the track .

I pray to improve more ,

1) aanchal mein - by Navaaz .

2) aanchal mein - by me .

Well done I like the original version verry mutch of Rafi saheb becouse there are multi pitch points in it and when I heared Navaaz It rembers me of the great man himself or a verry good clone.
Navaaz Your voice is real good yaar, only missing the gravity (wazan) in the voice try to adjust it in your recording hardware That will do and a view % echo adjust.
Shaan You are realy the limit yaar, When I heared you the first time I it makes me rember the person who is called now the clone of Rafi saheb and that is Debashish Dasguptaji YOU are arround there buddy.
