I have many good songs By Runa Laila but sadly all are on audiotape, so I'm hungry for CD versions. There is a 'bangla' song by her- 'Ho Shadhir Laao Banailo Mohe Boeraagi'- a fabulous song, does anyone have it on a CD or as Mp3. If yes then please upload. tongue.gif

Geodon,

Here is a favorite of mine by Runa Laila. She, with her characteristic style akin to Mehdi Hasan's, is truly the diva of ghazal singing.

So, here is Gulon Mein Rang Bhare by her, also sung by Khaan saaheb. It seems almost impossible to better his rendition but she carries it off tremendously well.

And another favorite of mine by her:

Keh Do Is Raat Sey Key Ruk Jaaye
Dard-e-Dil Minnaton Sey Soya Hai.

Her satin textured lush voice leaves me speechless. What a sad thing that she never made it big in the Hindi Music scene!

And, if I did n't upload this Geet by her which includes a recital by the late poetess Parveen Shakir, it'd be grave unjustice to her singing abilites that are as diverse as the colors of Fall. From a peppy song like Damadam-Mast-Kaladar to a serenely deliberate Gulon mein Rang Bhare, Tooti Hai Meree Neend fills the middle ground perfectly.

I envy you all who are going to listen to these for the first time.

Tooti Hai Meree Neend (lyrics: Parveen Shakir-- she herself deserves a post.)

PS says:

Raat Kee Raanee kee Khushboo sey koi yeh Kehde
Aaj Ke Shabnam Mere Paas Aaye....
...

...
Gaye Mausam kee Yeh Shanasha khushboo
Yun Rago-Pai mein Utartee Hai Jaise Koi Chamkeela Pehla Saiyar(?)..

Might some Urdu expert please explain the meaning of the verses? I do n't understand all of it.
