Did those 2 sisters act a lot? Did they continue after Partition? There was a lady in one of the Tarannum videos who looked a bit like Madam and I wondered if she was her sister but I guess she was some celebrity herself.

Quite by accident, I came across an item on one of the write-ups on the web about Noor Jehan which refers to Eidan marrying Tanveer Naqvi (Lyricist for Anmol Ghadi) at the time that film was being made.

According to Ali Sufyan Afaqi, (producer, director, story writer and journalist)
the marriage took place in 1948 in Lahore. Eiden was acting as a Heroine of
a stage drama 'Malika' written by Tanvir Naqvi. She was a good singer and
had better looks. They divorced in 1963.

Urzung ji, given these facts, its strange that she didn't make it big, in those days heroines with good looks and good voice really had an edge over others. smile1.gif

Saadat Hasan Manto desribed in his book that Noor Jehan's elder sister Eidan Bhai was the owner of the brothel (Chakla) in Lahore near by Noor Jehan house.

Welcome to the forum Hammad Mian

Thanks for the info. Sad that Eidan Bai couldn't do better things. In early days of music recordings, sevral prostitutes recorded songs for various recording companies. One doesn't know whether it ensured them a better living and a permanent escape from satus quo or was it just a flirtatious attempt tongue1.gif
