Full Version: Songs From Jeevan Jyoti
Hamara Forums > Legends > Asha Bhonsle
Priya
Hi friends,
Am gonna ul the songs from Jeevan Jyoti (1953) here--the Asha solos ie.
Music by SDB and lyrics by Sahir.
The credit for these songs goes to 2 diff friends. One who gave me most of the rare gems U see in my thread by that name gave me the 2 lories.
Another friends gave me the other 3. Do not attempt to reconvert his songs as they will get noisy. I used to always wonder why till i realised while we save tracks at 44,000 hz or some figure like that he does it as 22,500 or some such figure.
Starting with one of those songs. My fav--got hooked to this song--dunno why but I keep listening to it.

Listen to this song and then listen to "Dil Pukare Aare" from Jewel Thief. Also, who is the male voice at the end of the song?

Dear Ms. Priya,

If the song 'yeh ghungroo....' from 'Jeevan Jyoti' (music by Salil Chowdhury) is already uploaded, can you please provide me with the link?

I've grown up listening to the bengali version of the same song by Lata-bai ('o mor moina go.....kaar kaarone tumi akelaa....') but I was simply floored by the Asha-tai number when I had heard it on radio (good old Vividh Bharti) for the first and only time.

As a Kishore Kumar fan, I have a lot of regrets about the little output of KK-Salil. The same feeling (if not more) exists for the Asha-Salil team.

Thanks in advance.

Regards-Archie.

Hi Archie!
Call me Priya. I have not uled this song U mention. That is from another Jeevan Jyoti. This one has music by SDB.
But though I cannot recall this song (more fool me considering U say it is a great number doh.gif ) my list says I have it!!!!! It is not on my hdd so have to hunt through my cds and cassettes. If I find it will ul it. Dying to hear it myself. How could I have a great song and not place it or even know abt it???? sad1.gif
Yes I too always regret the limited output of th Salil-Asha team--the few songs they have together are great--there are a few I find impossible to hum--such difficult tunes.

Dear Priya,

This song is a beautiful number (but pretty hummable, though). It's loosely based on raag bhairavi but has the classy Salil C touch of making the song sound unique.

Yes! Asha-Salil songs are otherwise very very complex. (Remember the song that I had uploaded - 'hain jawaan, dil ke mere armaan'? Complicated beyond words!)

I'm very very impressed by your love for music in general & Asha-tai in particular. This kind of love & dedication is something that I can only dream of. Kudos, & keep it up.

Regards-Archie.

This song is attributed to Lata by Geet Kosh

Priya
That is strange--are there 2 versions or it is not listed in Asha's name at all? With Asha singing all the otehr songs v unlikely that Lata would have just one.
cinemaniac2
no Lata has one more solo

Chayi Kari Badariya Bairaniya Ho Ram

Lo kar lo baat!!!!! That is also an Asha song!!!!

Thanks Priya for the Chayee kari badariya..., I think this the best song of the movie.
Long back Shuklas had posted the Lata version of this song, now I have pasted the two tandem songs into one file ...starts with Ashaji and then ends with the Lataji's version. Maybe some new members have missed it.

Track time is 6.27 and uploaded @80 KBPS.

Enjoy here both the versions of the song in one file.

OK!!!! So there is a Lata version!!!! Cool!!!!!
Will dl at night and check it out!!
Maybe U should do that with the jagmagati diwali ki raat song too--do u want the Lata version? But quality is not as good as the Asha version I had uled. sad1.gif

This is great!!!! But why would anyone record the same song same tune same words in 2 voices???? Must be that usual RPM one voice film track another chakkar!!!!
The diff in bass in the 2 voices shows clearly in this song--otherwise almost ditto the way they sing!!!! Thanks so much. bow.gif

But dontya worry, okey? Everything will turn out jezt zimbly tip-top. Not topsy-turvy.

But only if you listen to an old man's (Grrrr abuse.gif) advice and consult an Ear Specialist, commonly (heh-heh tongue.gif) known as 'otologist', he/she may also be known as an aural surgeon aurist (as you already knew laugh.gif ). Other medical specialists especially interested in ears are variously known as otolaryngologists or otorhinolaryngologists - (oto) ear, (rhino) nose, (laryngo) throat specialists.

My initial diagnosis is a 'rhino' problem. Yaani ke, thick-skinned!: rollf.gif

Priya = Rhino problem = Beware!

Asha-ji > Sinus problem = Normal state of affairs

Lata-ji (+-) Sinus problem = Maha Warning plus Heightened State of Security

Old man = Wisdom

Fair Lady = Consultations with Dermatologists

hi priya and friends,
let me clarify about these two controversial jeevan jyoti songs-
1-chai kar baadariya-it has three versions-[a]asha;[b]lata;[c]female voice+ lata.
version ''c' is used in the film.
2-soja re soja-it has four versions-[a]-geeta;[b]lata;[c]asha;[d]female voice + lata.
versions a,b and d are used in the film.
the asha version of these two songs was not used in the film.
''soja re soja'' is the only song in hindi film music to be sug by our three greatest female singers-lata,geeta and asha.
regards,
mahesh

Hi Mahesh!!!!!!!
Great to see U here!!!! Hope U stay and share Ur wonderful knowledge here too!!!!!!!!!
Now I remember--I think U had posted such a thread in sks once. doh.gif
So why did they record all these versions????
Were the other Asha songs used in the film?
mahesh
rest of the asha songs were used.these two asha songs are indeed very rare and i think they were available in a pakistani cassette;which i think was the source of these songs in rmim asha commemorative.
thanks for the karwat duet which i managed to download from hf.you can ul the milap song on this forum only.
regards,
mahesh

BTW friends Mahesh is one of the kind friends from sks I always refer to--a fount of knowledge on the obscurest details of HFM!!!!!

I will ul the Milap song here. Isn't the quality great on that Karwat duet? I have the same thing on cassetee and what a difference. Wish HMV would make similar efforts on more songs. sad1.gif
Pakistani EMI sometimes does have a lot of songs no longer available on HMV releases na? I believe there are quite a lot at England too!!!
