Today's newspaper informed that Suraiya was admittted for ill health. Within hours media / website annonunced her demise.

It is indeed unfortunate that Suraiya was all alone at the time she left for her heavenly abode (as happens in many cases of legendaries connected with HFM / Bollywood), except her neighbours. Suraiya's contribution for HFM / Bollywood is unmatched. We will always remember Suraiyaji.

But ...
It is more than two years now that Beautiful Suraiyya passed away, leaving behind immoveable properties worth crores of rupees. That she had more than sufficient wealth to last her life time amply shows that she was an artiste who was in great demand both for singing as well as singing.

However, the sad aspect is the complete alienation exhibited by Bollywood or even attempts by this fraternity to maintain some semblance of contact and get-together. The fact is that her appearance of the stage has been very rare. She did appear sometimes back to hand over an award statuette. Thats all. Otherwise, we hardly heard about her since her retirement. This is the reality: As Naushad Sahaab had recently observed before his passing away: Ye Murda Parasto.n ki duniya hai. Jab log guzar jaate hai.n to fatiha dee jaati hai, qabar par chaadar chadayi jaati hai. Honours should come during lifetime itself. Thats what I want to point out.
