Some of the interesting things which Shammi Kapoor said in the
Programme Hello...Mike testing (on Saturdays 11:00 to 13:00 IST 93.5
Red FM)
1. Hum aur Tum ye samaa.N was included at the last minute in Dil
Deke Dekho. I heard Usha Khanna humming something...I asked her
about it...she said it was a new tune she had thought of.
2. For Kashmir Ki Kali I went to OP Nayyar's place at 8 in the
evening, Asha and lyricist SH Bihari were also present there and he
gave me 52 fabulous tunes to choose from in that one sitting! He
began with Deewaana huaa baadal. I eventually selected the best
eight from them.
3. My involvement was total in the making of a song. From the
conceptualisation to selecting tunes the final recording. That's how
I knew every song by heart. For Aasmaan se aayaa Farishta song I
couldnt hear the song since I was hanging from a helicopter...
Shaktibabu used to indicate the beat by waving a red handkerchief.
But I had no problems in the picturization.
4. Tumne mujhe dekha...is a song by Pancham which is very close to
my heart. My wife died during the making of Teesri Manzil...for a
long time I didn't work, then I resumed work by shooting this song.

Another instance of Shammi Kapoor's total involvement in a song can be seen in an interview of Lata by Subhash K Jha, which has been posted in the Lata Forum by aahat. The relevant portion is given below.
"Actually, Ehsaan tera hoga was only meant to be sung by Rafi. But the film's hero, Shammi Kapoor, suddenly decided that the heroine should sing it as well. It was picturised with Rafi's voice on Saira Banu and later dubbed by me."
P.S. notice how the decision was made by Shammi Kapoor not by the director, even though it had nothing to do with the hero!
