That would have to be "aansoo bhari hai yeh jeevan ki raahen" from Parvarish. There's many others in my fav list but this one tops it somehow.

It would have to be ...
aayaa hai mujhe phir yaad vo zaalim
guzaraa zamaanaa bachapan kA
picturized on Dharmendra
Either that or ...
koii jab tumhaaraa hR^iday to.D de
ta.Dapataa huaa jab koii chho.D de
Just simply amazing. Not to mention the childhood memories that go along with the first time I started listening to these songs.
There are other sad numbers on my list by Mukesh, but these would have to do as the top ones.

Few of my many favourites are:
Dam Dam Diga Diga Mausam Bhiga Bhiga
Muft Huve Badnaam Kisi Se Haaye Dil Ko Laga Ke
Mujko Is Raat Ki Tanhai Men Aawaz Na Do
Muje Tum Se Kuchh Bhi Na Chahiye Muje Mere Haal Pe Chhod Do
Kisi Nargisi Nazar Ko Dil Denge Hum
Hotho Pe Sachhai Rehti Hai Jahan Dil Men Safai Rehti Hai
Matwali Naar Thumak Thumak Chali Jaaye
Bahut Diya Dene Wale Ne Tujko
Bhuli Huyi Yaado Mujhe Itna Na Satao
Dhire Re Chalo Mori Baanki Hiraniyan
Kaise Manau Piyuwa Gun Mere Ek Hi Nahi

Wow, Ashok ji, great songs.. I totally forgot about these two. Any idea whether "mujhe tum se kuch bhi na chaahiye" is based on a raga or not? What movie is it from? I've heard it a lot as a child but dont know much about the song. And "bhuli hui yaadon" is again really great emotional song.
Btw, what are your fav Gujarati songs of Mukesh? Do post them at your free time. Thanks

Best regards,

Some of my fav Mukesh songs are
Jinhe hum bhoolna chaahe wo aqsar yaad aate hain
Tumhe zindagi ke ujaale mubarak, andhere hume aaj raas aa gaye hain
Deewano se ye mat poocho, deewano pe kya guzari hai
O re taal mile nadi ke jal se, nadi mile saagar se
Dekhti he raho aaj darpan na tum, pyaar ka ye muhurat nikal jaayega
Husn-e-jana idhar aa, aaina hoon mai tera
Jab ghame ishq satata hai to hans leta hoon
Waqt karta jo wafa aap hamare hote, hum bhi auron ki tarah aap ko pyaare hote
Mai to ek khwaab hoon, is khwaab se tu pyaar na kar
Humne apna sab kuch khoya pyaar tera paane ko
Tum bin jeevan kaise beeta, poocho mere dil se
Jis dil mei basa tha pyaar tera, us dil ko kabhi ka tod diya
Fortunately there are many more

Hell Friends
Songs from "Andaz" are really classics. Mukeshji was for Dilip Saab and Rafi Saab gave voice to RK
"Toote Na Dil Toote Na..."
"Zoom Zoom Ke Naacho Aaj..." etc.
For Madhumati once again an Evergreen song for Dilip
"Suhana Safar hai Aye Mausam Haseen..."

Well, this is the toughest choice to make but picking one it can be "Woh Tere Pyaar Ka Gham" from My Love or "Koi Jab Tumhara Hriday" from Purab Paschim

kya yaar. How can we pick one or two or ten. I have to pick
few hunderd and then a lot of song would be missing. One song
that is close to me but not so popular fro Bhabhi ki Chudia
Tum se hi ghar, ghar kehalia.
Everything, lyrics, music, picturisation and of course Mukeshji
is just superb. IMO ideal mothers day song.

I'm suprised that I've never replied on this topic. Anyway, it's impossible to choose just one Mukesh song, since he has so many great songs! Suhani Chandni Raatein however, is my favourite song of all times. This will also be the opening number when I'll marry my girlfriend next year.

Kai baar yun bhi dekha hai is actually from Rajnigandha (1974). Many people can confuse these two, because Mukesh sounded very similar vocally in Choti Si Baat and Rajnigandha, both had Amol Palekar as the actor, and both had Salil Chaudhari as the music director. The song from Choti Si Baat is "yeh din kya aaye lage phool hasne." Incidentally, this happens to be the last song Mukesh has ever sung for Salil da.

I have many favourites of Mukesh, but two songs that stand out are "Aaya Hai Mujhe Phir Yaad" and "Jaane Kahan Gaye Woh Din". They are absolute beauties.
