The final cast for Yashraj Film’s Dhoom 2 is finally out in the open. Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra are still a part of the cast and are joined by Bipasha Basu, who has penciled in for the sequel.
However, John Abraham, Rimi Sen, and Esha Deol are not going to be part of the film. When asked about the exclusion of Abraham in the film director Sanjay Gadhvi says, “Let’s get this straight. A sequel does not necessarily have the same cast”.
When questioned further about rumours that Abraham taught Abhishek and Uday how to ride he commented saying, “It is wrong that John taught Abhishek and Uday to ride the bikes. In fact, we even used a double for John, as the stunts were dangerous”.
Further, Gadhvi shot down the rumours that Sanjay Dutt was a part of Dhoom-2. “These are preposterous rumours. There is no Sanju in Dhoom- 2,” he asserts.
But now that the cast has been finalised, Gadhvi says, “Yes, this is the final cast.
There was space for one female lead. We decided on Bipasha as the concept of the character in the sequel suits her. I have worked with her before and apart from being a competent actress; she is very attractive and hot. She and I share a very comfortable equation with each other.”
Gadhvi had directed Basu in Yashraj’s venture Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi, in which she made a special appearance playing Ria, a model who shares an apartment with Sanjay (Uday Chopra) and helps him realise his love; Anjali (Tulip Joshi).
Gadhvi refused to give any more details concerning the film such as the story, or the various shooting locales and starting date saying, “I am not supposed to give away anything more than this.
However we have learnt that Roshan plays the negative guy confronting Bachchan.
Final cast for the sequel
After the surprise success of Dhoom last year, Yashraj films decided to go ahead with a sequel and pulled off a casting coup.
The new film will star in addition to Bipasha, Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan as the suave villain. In a surprising omission, Bipasha’s real-life boyfriend and star of Dhoom, John Abraham has been left out in the cold.
Will the sequel match the original? We’ll have to wait until end of the year.
