Re-release of the bhajan itself....the verse...not the song. That's what we meant!
So the original 50s version is a non film song, and the later one is the same bhajan sung separately and released with ostensibly no connection to the earlier one (other than Meera Bai and Ashaji) .....There you have it.
I am even more confused now. How can that be called a re-release when only lyricist and singer remain the same and the tune and md and music are all diff? Am I missing something here? Got to borrow some intelligence from Ur mule

Does no one have any info from the Bible of HFM--Geet Kosh?

Well, actually by definition, it cannot be in the "Bible of HFM--Geet Kosh" (sic)
since it is a non-film song (the "F" in HFM <img>javascript:emoticon(':)'</img>).
As for "Mai bairaagan ho gayi", thank god (IMO) for the 4 Asha/Jaidev bhajans,
cause the rest are quite bad, both in terms of composition and Asha's rendition.
I bought the original "Baala mai bairaagan ho gayi" and was supremely
disappointed, possibly with the exception of 1 song which was passable (all in
my not-so-humble opinion of course).
The Asha/Jaidev bhajans:
1. Tumul kolaahal
2. Aali ri mere
3. Kaise unko paooN aali (my favorite of these)
4. Na mai laDi thhi
are excellently rendered by Asha and wonderful tunes as well.
Long story short, I have added no value to this discussion. Sorry.
As for the semantic differences between a re-release v/s a re-make v/s a
re-something else, I think I will stay out of that one for now.javascript:emoticon(';)')
