HI,

DO ANY ONE HAVE ANY INFO ON Deleted Songs of MUGHAL-E-AZAM

Almost 20 songs were recorded for Mughal-e-Azam at the price of
Rs 3000 each. Each one was a classic. And yet, almost ten of
them were left out, including "Husn ki baraat chali" sung by
Lata, Shamshad Begum and Mubarak Begum because the scene where
Salim comes to the boathouse to give away awards to the court
singers was deleted from the film.

So were "akele mujhe chhod ke kahan chale re" and "aai ishq yeh
duniyawale bekaar ki baaten karte hain". Another hummable
Shamshad Begum song "chala ja re nami chhalakte hua" was also
never heard again because Anarkali never did send her prince a
love letter in a floating lotus.

Of all those you mention I have heard Lata ji's aye ishq yeh sab duniyawale (to have been) picturised on Anarkali's sister. She's probably reacting to her sister's heartbreak. It's one of my favorites.

Aye ishq yeh sab duniyawale bekaar ki baatein karte hain
payal ge ghamon ka ilm nahin jhankar ki baatein karte hain

The song is actually sung in a mocking vein by the sister to the prince and this friend (Dilip Kumar and Ajit). It is way before the heartbreak starts - it is at a point when the love itself is just flowering! The song was not deleted - I have seen it in the film (the older version - no idea of the newer version, but then I heard that even "mohabbat ki jhoothi kahaani pe roye" was deleted from the colour version!).

Warm regards,
Abhay

Hi,
YES ABHAY YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. The song
Aye ishq yeh sab duniyawale bekaar ki baatein karte hain
is very much in film.
Do anyone remember song

HUSN KI BARAAT CHALI AAJ DIL KE DWARE

I heard it some time back .Now song with same wording is in the deleted song list of Mughal-e-azam.
That song was also a trio or duet

Thanks
Ahsish
