Full Version: Swan Song Of Madam Noor Jehan
Hamara Forums > Legends > Noor Jehan
Inaam
According to an authentic source, Madam Noor Jehan recorded her last song at the Evernew studio Lahore, for Director Masood Butt’s film ‘Insaaf ho to Aisa’ (1998). The song was "Larki phansaali tune tilley de taar jesi, kamre mein le ja sajna aaja ab dair kesi", (Music by Taafu, Lyrics by Khawaja Perveez, picturised on actress Khushbu). Most probably this song was recorded in the mid of 1996. Due to her health problems, Noor Jehan had spent a lot of time to record this song; she recorded word by word with lot of pauses. She never came to studio after recording of this song.
It is not a good song I believe (Like most of the Khawaja Pervez songs, the lyrics are very cheap) but certainly of value to a Noor Jehan fan. Let me know what you think.

Hello Inaam

I guess that it is the last original film song Madam recorded because according to some sources when her health improved a bit in 1999 she rerecorded some of her superhit Punjabi numbers for KTV like- Kadi Aa Mil Ranjahn Ve, Dang Pyaar Daa, Phikki Pai Gai etc. I'm not sure of the reliability with regard to the year but I have these recordings on an audiotape and from the quality of her voice it is certainly past 1996.

I dont know, I think I read some place, that her last song was "Ki Dam Da Bharosa"?! But maybe, it was her last superhit song, and not her last song..! blab.gif

Dear Inaam:

If yhou had not explained that Madam was ill at the time this song was recorded, I would not have guessed it from the way the song was sung. It touches me that even when she was very ill, Malika-e-Tarannum sang as she has always done, with purity voice, diction and her inimitable quality and as lways gave her Best.

Thanks for sharing this precious song with us.

Dear Sampath

I share your sentiments. It is really heartening to hear Noor Jehan sing despite so much illness and one feels like applauding her for her zest. In one of her late interviews when asked about the views of some people who had started saying that her voice had lost its charm, she simply replied that 'I don't go by any external standards to judge my voice, I sing for my fans who continue to hear me and by my music. The day I'm sure that someone can render a note better than me I'll quit singing forever.'

In this song her voice has surly lost its early hold but my salutes to her zest for music thumbs-up.gif Our favorite singer was certainly a great personality who never succumed before anything.

I also wish to thanks Inaam for sharing this lovely song and making another welcome addition to my collection. The Punjabi songs which I was talking about, there Noor Jehan shows a better hold than this one but lesser as compared to her Sakhi Badshah number and I'm now really curious to find out the date of their recording. Wish Inaam could help my giving some information.

I dont think so that she was able to sing in 1999 because it is a known fect that she was seriously ill since 1998. I have some books about Madam and all the Newspapers of her demise day, will try to post some quotations.
Pulkit can you upload the songs you have mentioned? I dont have these recordings. There is no TV channel with the name of KTV in Pakistan, Is this an indian channel?

'Ki dam da bharosa yaar..' is from film 'Sakhi Badshah'. this film was relased in 1996. Madam surely had recorded lot of songs after Sakhi Baadha. here is a list of films since 1996, in which you can find Madam's songs:

1996
Sakhi Badsha
Aku Dus Numbry
Aalmi Ghunday
Choraan da shehenshah
Zamana 420
Sajawal
Baazar bandh karo
Fauja
Saza

1997
Kuri munda raazi
Teefa Gujjar
Jagat Singh Jagga
Sukhaan

1998
Insaaf ho to aisa
Tu meri mein tera
Khoon da baadshah

2000
Ghabru Punjab Da

I do not have the record from 2001 to 2004 films but I am sure there are some films with Madam's songs, for example last month a punjabi film 'Munna Bhai LLB' was released ,two of the songs of this film are sung by Madam Noor Jehan. I have these tracks.

The Sindhi TV channel you are talking about is not KTV, it is KTN and it was launched in 2003.

This is not Maleka-e-Tarnnum Noor Jehan, this song is sung by a new Pakistani singer Naseebo Lal. Like other new Pakistani female singers, Nassebo try to copy the style of Madam Noor Jehan. She has re sung thousands of Noor Jehan Songs. Personally I don’t like her singing, but it is a fact that she has been established in Punjabi film industry of Pakistan. Most of her fans believe that she is the substitute of Madam Noor Jehan but I don’t think so.

Pulkit It is very strange that a NJ fan like you cannot differentiate between the original and the imitator.

Hi Inaam!
Finally managed to dl a few songs. Thanks so much for the last song of Madam. Considering her age and ill health she manages to do a good job but it brought the tears to my eyes to think of her recording bit by bit. sad1.gif God bless her soul she has brought us so much happiness.
Loved the recent batch of songs U uled. Ae musawir is a lovely song --cannot stop listening to it. Could not understand it entirely but it has a touching wistful quality about it. V beautiful and Madam's singing is v controlled and soft (compared to her usual full throated numbers). Aadhi raat ka chanda chamke too is a nice number. Love the way she gives a diff stress and turn to ab to sajna jaane de each time. Madam's songs always bring a smile to one's face bec there is something cute and naughty about her that comes out through her songs and at the same time there is the feeling of respect and admiration.
All the rare songs U uled are great. The file quality too is good. Are U using a diff software? I enjoyed diye jagmag chamke and chanda re chanda and thandi thandi hawa is really sweet. Ja re ja bedardi has become one of my favs too. Ek se badhkar ek gaane hainkiski tareef karoon? And all in different styles and yet Madam's voice and singing are just perfect for every kind of song.
Chun liya ek phool is the East Pakistan number I think or am I mistaken?
Have to mention ab woh baharein kahan too. Beautiful song.
Also wrong place but thanks too jamal for the early Punjabi numbers--esp loved Dachi waliya.
P_most grateful to all the dear friends for all the lovely songs--when i first became a Madam fan I wondered how ever I would get her songs here but thanks to all of U esp Inaam itna bada khazana mila hai. bow.gif
PS Inaam I kept saying I had replied to the swan song post bec I had typed the beginning of the mail in the morning and then found my phone dead and so did not send it & forgot.

................... doh.gif Shucks
Actually Inaam it is not at all my fault. I have heard Naseebo only on T.V. once and the tape I had claimed to be original Maadam 1999 recordings. Since the last Noor Jehan song I had heard was 'ki dam da bharosa' recorded in 96' so I thought that due to severe illness Madam's voice had changed.
I feel like filing a petition against the music company, how can they pput Nj's photo on the tape and her credits as singer when voice is Naseebo's.

Just dled this song. Any idea when the song was recorded? It does not sound like just before her death--a shelved film? Of course with all the modern digital equipment could be a slightly cleaned up track bec there are no signs of breathlessness or anything. Thanks for this info & the song--wonderful that a film was released recently with Madam's songs in it. Was there any report in the media about it there?
BTW who is Zulfiqar Attre?

I remember that there was a film called ***** Tax (what a funny name laugh.gif indeed) released in 2001 or 2002 that had Noor Jehan songs. I had the songs of this film on MP3 but lost them as I had to get my hard disc reformulated and forgot to save them on a CD.

Good News Pulkit!!! How many songs were sung by Madam in the film?

Inaam
Pulkit
Inaam, there were two female voice on the soundtrack- Noor Jehan and Saira Naseem. Of the four songs that I caught hold of two were in Noor Jehan's voice. I think you should try and find out, the voice was surly Noor Jehan's and I hope the details of film are correct( tongue.gif , remember the Naseebo confusion, tauba tauba).
