Actually now that the old attachments are bring removed, it is alright if the songs are uploaded again. Older uploads might not be available for download any more. If members request those songs again, it is alright to upload them again. All attachments will be available for only 30 days. After that, they will be removed. Moreover, in a few days/weeks time the Song Library will also go away.

QUOTE(Chitralekha Yesterday, 05:48 PM)
Done Unni ji. Since the first post only mentioned Rafi sahab's thread name, I am thinking it's okay for it to be in Chit-o-chat. Yes, there are Rules, and from the above you will note they are being implemented.
With the gradual cleaning up of song attachments, eventually there will be no Song Library for members to access previous uploads. Hence, there will be requests for songs previous uploaded, thereby leading to repeat uploads. Further, many of the repeat uploads are of better sound quality.

Click to view attachmentUnni, thank you for reminding me of another good song. Unfortunately, my version which though appears in the 4th CD of 'The Silken Voice' Collection is also the 'fade-out' version.
Track length is 3min, 17secs. The track fades on the following words:
ishq kee raah mein saahil bhi haen, tufaan bhi haen
iss mein izzat bhi hae, ruswayee ke saamaan bhi haen
meri jaan dunya ke darr se na badal jaana tum
kyunke ab mil ke na milnay ... If your captured version was from a streaming audio then maybe you would like the one I have. Let me know if you want me to upload. I would suggest we request it from Khalid sahab, better to have the original & complete version, if it truly is available.
My current favourite is '
Aaj Kisine Baaton Baaton Mein', exquisite.
Aaj Kisi Ne Baaton Baaton Mein Jab Unnka Naam Liya
Dil Ne Jaisay Thokar Khayee, Dard Ne Barh Kar Thaam Liya
Raah-e-talab mein chaltay chaltay thak kar jab hum chuur hue
Zulf kee thandi chaon mein baethay, pal do pal aaraaam liya
Deewaron ke saaye saaye umr bitayee deewane
Muft mein tann-asaani-e-gham ka apnay sar ilzaam liya
Ghar se daaman jhaarh ke nikle, wehshet ka saamaan na puuch
Yaani ke gard-e-raah se hum ne rakht-e-safar ka kaam liya

Talat sahab's son indeed takes requests sent to him through his email address. And yes, the songs are posted on his father's website. I'm surprised you weren't aware of this.
The bulk of my collection comes from the uploads at his website (and of course some generous HF members)!
You can find uploads changed almost weekly. Sometimes they stay up for longer, probably due to lack of requests coming through for new songs.

Thanks for the update Mohd. The page hadn't been updated for few weeks now. Good to see some new uploads. I have requested the original version for the Karwaan song with Khalid Sahab. Now anxiously waiting for the upload to show up in a week or two.
The fast version of 'Aa Teri Tasveer Bana Loon' from 'Nadaan' is approximately 3mins 29secs, while the other one is 2min 47secs. I'm guessing there might be an extra verse or just a change in structure of lyrics, will have to give it another listen & put it down on paper.

Just a stray thought.
Strangely, it stems from a topic in another thread, about whether one became a fan of Mohd. Rafi before or after his demise.
I had put in my 2-cents that it is natural that someone like me should be a fan of the singer, for after all, we grew up listening to that voice. Whereas "new" fans are more authentic in their appreciation of the music and the song-rendering, and not carried away by the aura of the star on whom it was picturised, or by the success of the movie. That they would be "put off" by the quality of the old black-and-white picturizations, yet should appreciate the singing.
In a similar vein, I did enjoy the recent colour mega-production "DEVDAS". I was impressed with the colour and the costumes and the dances and the sets. Just by the sheer grandeur of it all!
Did it have any degree of "authenticity"? Did it bear any semblance to the original novel? Hardly.
But then, whereas my daughters loved the new "DEVDAS", they would have no patience with the earlier black & white Bimal Roy version.
I made it a point to revisit the earlier version.
The new version should more aptly been titled "Devi aur Devdasi" --- in my opinion, Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixit dominated the movie. Shah Rukh playing the role of Devdas, I thought, was virtually incidental.
Whereas, in the old version, two things stand out for me:
Dilip Kumar's portrayal of the role, with the memorable lines, "Kaun kambakht peene ke liye peeta hai?" and the transcendental rendering by Talat-sahab of "Mitua" with hardly any accompanying background music.
Even long ago, the song was special to me. Without even identifying the movie or the star.
Musical milestones and memories are made of such great renditions.

I shall revisit Unni's wandering thought, next time.
Here's the much appreciated info that Akhtar would appreciate to appreciate, or we hope that such info is appreciated by the appreciative masses that might even include Akhtar, in his all appreciative glory.
Without having downloaded the file, the song could be the following:
Song: Yeh Kya Hai Dhang Zamane Ka
Film: Daak Babu
M. D: Dhani Ram
Year: 1954
Duration: 3:12
This song also appears on the Legends series, Talat Mahmood The Silken Voice collection, CD 2.
Akhtar, you're free to upload, either here or in the Files Section, under Shuklas' Talat Mahmood thread. If you would
ever 'surprisingly' feel drawn towards some mesmerizingly beautiful renditions of Talat sahab and would like some recommendations, do let us know.

Is this the 'Legends' Series ?

Nov 30 2004, 01:13 AM
Yes, the attached image is the Legend series.
Unni, Mohd or Cinemaniac2 would be the experts to call Talat Mahmood songs rare or common. I am just a greedy collector. Let's just wait for their verdict on these.
By the way, I probably haven't exposed this earlier, but my favourite romantic song by Talat Mahmood has to be 'Bechain Nazar'. If not for the voice then definitely for the simple yet alluring old melody of C. Ramchander. And the words, how can one even hope to weave such beautiful words into such a song.
