Storyline - Randhir and Ranvir Verma are twins. Randhir is straightforward, while Ranvir is a petty criminal. (Now doesn't that sound very familiar ) These petty thefts add up, and soon the police arrest Ranvir, and he is sentenced to prison. In prison, Ranvir incurs the wrath of a gangster, Tony, and is killed. Randhir undertakes to find the killer, and gets himself arrested, and imprisoned to get to see who the killer is. After getting out from prison, Randhir plans to avenge his brother's death, without knowing that he himself could endanger his very life, as well the life of his girlfriend, Mala. Storyline : Ram Avtar, a barber in a small village, comes from a poor family, widowed, but has his wife's sister, Sushma, looking after him and his kids. Ram Avtar cuts, shaves, and grooms all males in his village, including Minister Digvijay Singh. When Digvijay's political party is in need of someone to stand in the forthcoming election, Digvijay recommends Ram Avtar as his choice. Ram Avtar accepts this challenge, and then begins the race of getting votes. To his surprise, he wins, and goes on to become a Member of the Legislative Assembly. Sushma watches from the sidelines as to how the changes affect this simple-minded and straight-forward barber.

More on this movie : This movie was a hurriedly made remake. The movie had Rajesh Khanna the superstar as its central character. The movie was a better movie than the political movies made then - Inquilaab and Yeh Desh but suffered may be due to the fact that it had all the negatives of a movie made in a hurry. The dialogues, screenplay were hurriedly written and could have been made better. Bappi Lahiri's music is not jarring. Shabna Azmi puts in a good performance but Shatrughan Sinha screams his way in the movie and looks a misfit. The characters are loose but Rajesh Khanna the Superstar fresh from his success of Avataar tries to hold the ground. A good remake which suffered due to its hurried release. Otherwise a good watch for Rajesh Khanna fans, He has done justice to his role - from a barber to a Chief Minister.

Quoting from yahoo on screen leaders - In 1984, the media was flush with stories on two Hindi mainstream films released almost simultaneously, each with a matinee idol in the lead. One was INQUILAB with Amitabh Bachchan and the other was AAJ KA MLA RAM AVTAR. AAJ KA MLA had the very interesting storyline of how a barber becomes an MLA and turns the tables on the entire concept of caste, class and social hierarchy. Ram Avtar (Rajesh Khanna), a poor barber in a small village cuts, shaves and grooms all the men in the village including Minister Digvijay Singh. When Singh needs a candidate to represent his party in the elections, he recommends the name of Ram Avtar. Surprisingly, Avtar wins and becomes an MLA. Fresh from the success of Avtar, Rajesh Khanna made the most of a challenging role that evolved dramatically within the film that had generous doses of comedy spiked with satire. The film was panned by critics who gave the thumbs down signal to other similar films like INQUILAB and MERA DESH. Apparently both releases of Aaj Ka MLA Ramavtar and Inquilaab simulatenously only ended in killing both releases to be mere flops.

I think the song Main Hoon Shri Ramavtar is unique in the sense that this contains three versions containing same words that are sung effortlessly in Classic, Quawalli and Pop form by the Guru and all the versions are excellent. This shows the real abilities of Guru.

Storyline:

When the rest of the family find out that he has obtained this money through smuggling, they ask him to leave the house, which he does and goes to live with a woman named Ruhi, a cabaret dancer. Thereafter the household's base collapses as Mala's daughter is killed in an accident; her son falls in bad company and starts gambling and stealing; her husband is arrested for embezzlement and theft; while her father-in-law loses his job. Now Mala can only turn to her Vijay and her father for help - but will they be willing to assist her after all that has happened?

Jaimala is a Kannada (Indian) film actress. Her famous films are Aaj Ka Ye Ghar, Sampoorna Teerth Yatra, Balak, Spy in Rome, Love and Murder and Harishchandra Taramati. She has also produced the movie Aaj Ka Ye Ghar.

She was the centre of the cycloen when she claimed that she touched the Lord Ayyappa idol in Sabarimala in Kerala state in April 1987. Women from the age 10-50 are banned from entering Sabarimala. It created a furor in India and led to ideological warfare in Indian media and courts.

Jayamala has said she regretted her action, but clarified that she was pushed into the shrine by a crowd of devotees

K K Mahajan, cinematographer par excellence
K K Mahajan was one of India's foremost cinematographers with a body of work comprising of 84 feature
films, about 100 commercials and over 20 significant documentaries and several TV serials. A gold
medalist alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), he graduated in Motion Picture
Photography in 1966.


A four time National Award winner, his cinematographic contribution to both mainstream and art cinema has
remained unparalleled. His prolific virtuosity has rightly been considered a major factor in the Indian New
Wave. The (1972). The one common factor to all these classics was brilliant cinematography by 'K K', as he

Storyline: a great comedy on the paranoia of a wife who suspects his husband of always cheating on her played by Radha Saluja and Kiran plays the easy on the eye husband ,this movie is a hallmark in indian comedy cinema as it was rather enacted with a Billy Wilder touch instead of the slapstick of Mehmood and Johar.

Sunil Mehta gets stuck in a giant ferris wheel all night due to power failure. He arrives home the next day, and meets a very suspicious wife, Geeta, who knows that he has been up to no good. She refuses to believe his story about the stalled ferris wheel, and he invents a story about spending the night with a fictitious friend named Champak Boomia. Geeta does not believe that he ever has a friend by that name, and decides to write to him to come and visit her. Sunil then convinces his friend, Amit Desai, to pretend that he is Champak, and thus convince Geeta that he was indeed telling the truth. Amit agrees to do so, and everything goes according to plan -- until a real and amorous Champak Boomia shows up.

Starting his career as an assistant to Mohan Saigal in the film New Delhi, Bhatia, subsequently started his film production company “Kiran Productions” and made several hit films including Anpadh, Neela Akash, Kanyadaan, Pavitra Paapi, Paraya Dhan and Jungle main mangal. In the early 80’s he ventured in to making television films for Doordarshan. Noted among them was Hum Hindustani, directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. He passed away on 25th December 1996.

Asrani - He plays the role of a friend of Sunil Mehta. Asrani's wife Majnu was a part of this project. She played the role of his wife, who is the lady who is stuck on ferris wheel with Kiran Kumar. Asrani won the best comedian award for this movie - conferred by Filmfare.

Paintal's in one of the most notable roles as Champak Boomia. This name got popular after this movie, just like Poppatlal did after Dev Anand starrer Jab pyar kisi se hota hai..
