Full Version: My First Post - 3 Noor Jehan Songs
Hamara Forums > Legends > Noor Jehan
jamalf_akbar
Hi all,

This is my first post so apologies if I make any mistakes. I recently got a new computer plus broadband so I can now start uploading songs. I am still learning how to use the different bits of software so please bear with me and advise me.

I love songs from the 40's right to the 70's, Indian and Pakistani. I am so grateful to my grandfather for buying so many records.

Anyway, I noticed one of the posts had my website in it. If you haven't seen it -
freespace.virgin.net/jamal.akbar/noorjehan.htm

It's still incomplete - but hopefully with my new equipment I'll be able to make it better. One of my other sites is on Nutan (freespace.virgin.net/jamal.akbar/index.htm)

To the task in hand - I wanted to post something that you wouldn't be able to find in the shops (they're the best posts).

1) To start with I have Dil Ka Diya Jalaya from Koel(1959). Although it is not rare - the film version has the additional verse that is not on the CD version:

'Beet Gaya Hai Ek Zamana
Kahin Mila Na Tera Thikana
Thak Thak Haare Nain Bechare
Kuch Bhi Nazar Na Aaya'

MD: Khurshid Anwar

2) The second song is from the film Gulnar (1953) - Bachpan Ke Yaadgaaro. I think her voice is exquisite here.

MD: Master Ghulam Haider

3) Sanwariya Tohe Koi Pukare - Dupetta (1952). What can I say about this track?

MD: Feroz Nizami

Thanks Jamalf Bhai for these excellent Madam Uploads.

where is Priya now to shower akbar miyan with encomiums? tongue.gif

Anyway I'd say thanks to you, Akbar for these uploads on her behalf.

Jamal

Good to see you here. The number of Noor Jehan fans on this group is sprouting up and same goes for the wonderful uploads.
BTW Jamal, I have a question for you- how many songs did Gulnar have. I know of four Noor Jehan solos but somewhere read that Roshanara Begum also lent her voice to a song. Is that true?
Akhtar
Welcome Jamal !
jamalf_akbar
Thanks all. I hope to post some more songs soon. Let me know if you have any requests, I'll try my best to fulfil them. Was the encoding/quality good?

Pulkit - I finally got round to recording the video version of 'Dil Ka Diya' only took over a year !! Did u request another song 'pheeki pey gay chand tarariyan di' ? I think I saw you had requested it in another post (I can't find the post). I have this song so can upload it if you like.

As far as Gulnar goes, I also only know of the 4 Noor Jehan songs and only have 2 of them in my possession. The other is 'Lo Chal Diye'. Do you have the others? I'll see if I can track down anymore information about the film.

Nice post Jamal ... good to see that you are finally on-line and ready to upload! smile1.gif

Now how about making my CDs that you promised me? sunglasses2.gif
jamalf_akbar
Hi all,

I've tried three more songs from video. These are from Noor Jehan's Punjabi collection.

1) Lamiyan Manzilan (Chanwey - 1951) - MD: Feroz Nizami
I hadn't heard this until I bought the film from Pakistan and what a gem to miss.
Apologies for the quality. There is a slight jump in the song too.

2) Dachi Waliya Le Chal Na We (Nooran - 1957) - MD: Safdar
She sounds so innocent in this song. If you see the song on film her expressions are so delicate. I am going to try and record video clips soon and put them on my website for download.

3) Nike Nike Tario (Choomantar - 1958) - MD: Rafiq Ali
I love this song and her voice here is so serene. This is the full film version that has repeated verses. There is a version on record that is shorter where she sings each verse once. Even though this was released the same year as Anarkali her voice sounds so different from the songs she sung there.

Enjoy!

Jamal Bhai please post Gulnar song -Lo Chaldiye, if in good quality.

Jamal Bhai! Thanks for 'Lamiyan Manzilan..' never heard this song, I am very greateful for that. welcome and I hope you stay long enough to share more great songs. I know I will share more songs if there were only more people sharing tongue.gif Pulkit said he know of four Noor Jehan solos of Gulnaar. which is the fourth song Pulkit?.I know of only three solos of Madam (I have only first two songs)
1. Bachpan ki Yaadgaaro
2. Lo chal diye wo humko
3. Sakhi ri nahin aaey sajanwa more
I have a solo by Fazal Hussain from Gulnaar too (I have recently uploaded at SKS). Does any body have 'Sakhi ri nahin aaey..' I have never find this song anywhere?

Inaam.
Pulkit
Jamal and Inaam

I once did have "sakhi rii nahii aaye" from Gulnar but that tape got spoiled and I could not digitalize it as I was unfamiliar with the process. I really long to catch hold of that wonderful song again, it was far better than the other two solos -"lo chal diye" and "bachpan ki yaadgaaron." I also have a 90s resung version of "lo chal diye woh." As far as the fourth NJ solo goes, so a music buff from Canada told me that it was " Aye raat zara tham tham ke guzar." I myself never heard of that song but since Gulnar was a NJ film so one should expect more than three songs in any case. As far as Roshanara Begum song concerns so Noor Jehan herself mentioned it in an interview. I do not recall whether it was a duet or a solo.

I also have all Chanwey songs in possession including these which have not been posted yet-

1. Mausam e mohabbataan da raatan ne peyariyaan
Husn te jawani diyan mehkiyaan keyarian- Noor Jehan & Chorus

2. Mere angane de wich charheyaa chan jawani daa- Noor Jehan

3. Chan Deya Toteya- the duet version.

and the full version of mundeya sialkoteya including the third stanza. And there is another lovely track picurized on two small children. But, due to some hardware problem I cannot put these tracks on to my computer at the moment so anybody wanting them would have to wait for a while.
Jamal, it would be great if you could post Phikki Pai Gayi in good bitrate.
jamalf_akbar
As requested -

1) Lo Chal Diye (Gulnar - 1953) MD: Master Ghulam Haider

2) Phikki Peygaye (Badla - 1968) MD: Master Abdullah

Please let me know if the bit rate/quality is ok. These are both from CD.

Pulkit - I would love to get the Chanwey songs that you have. The ones that I have are:

Short version of Mundeya Sialkotiya
Jadoo Koi Peygaya
Changa Banaya Sanu Khidona
and now Lamiyan Manzilan (from video) but if you have a better version

Inaam bhai - I am one of those people who derives more pleasure from music by sharing so do not worry - I am here for a long time.

Dear Jamal
Thanks a lot for the song, I have downloaded it and would check it out after typing this reply. I have to leave for a conference in few days and so I'm caught in many things. Sadly, the problem on my computer is still not fixed up and I cannot digitalize analog recordings but I have noted your request and would make it sure that I upload the songs. I even have a few requests from Devender which I have postponed a lot but one song which he wanted is on a CD and so I'll surly post it soon.

Take Care
Priya

Hi Priya,

Really sorry to hear about your Grandad. May God bless his soul and help you and your family bear the loss. Thank you for your kind comments. Now that I have my new computer I hope to spend more time on my Noor Jehan site and upload songs and videos and more pictures.

Here is another beautiful Noor Jehan song from the film Chingari (1964).
MD: Khurshid Anwar. I have always thought that Noor Jehan performed her best under Khurshid Sahib. I adore this song.

Thanks everyone for the kind messages. It was better for my Grandad that he passed away--he was 88 and after he had a stroke 2 months back he began losing all his faculties one by one. He couldn't even recognise anyone half the time. Luckily he died peacefully.

Hey Jamal!

What a great clip ... and such good quality. I was amazed at how good the sound was ... !

I don't know how large the file would be for a whole song but I would like to see some of the songs from Intezar.
