sangeet ka safar have this news
hi,
This is very poor show not good
Bollywood's first family, the Bachchans, has landed in Toronto at
the start of a world tour of their new musical.
Patriarch , a Bollywood icon who starred in films such
as Sholay and Black, will share the stage with his son, Abhishek
Bachchan and his daughter-in-law, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, both also
film stars.
Their Unforgettable Tour, a musical production designed to introduce
the charms of Bollywood to a world audience, involves a cast of 150
and music and choreography by some of India's most respected artists.
The first performance is Friday at Rogers Centre

at 12:06 AM ETThis kick off just did not make it, of all the bollywood
shows I attended in Toronto this was the worst ever, cheapest
production. The Bachans must learn by now that being on stage is
unlike being in the movies, there was no connection with the audience,
Ashwaria seems to lack the pizazz that she would normally command, in
her first performance she lacked spirit and just was'nt there and at
times trying hard to bring it on, the sound system was poor ..at least
sitting from the far left from the stage. The only one who seems to
left their mark was Akshay he was splendid and spent the most time
communicating with the audience the rest did not as for the MC she did
more modelling than waht she was paid to do, however the slogan PISS
OFF at the back of his T shirt was distateful and turned a few people
off, not sure what the message was or meant to be. In the end instead
of the crowd craving for more, they were left empty as saying "what
the heck happened here. I hope they learn from this instead of leaving
the audience to think thayt this was merely a money grabber.

at 11:04 AM ETi wouldn't exactly classify the CBC's coverage of the
bacchans as gratuitous publicity, definitely not worse than brangelina
(huh?!)
the bacchans are coming to toronto, so it IS local news. their shows
have filled the Skydome to capacity at $100-400 a pop. do the math -
that cold calculation puts them in the highest bracket of performers
anywhere in the world... let alone in sparsely populated canada.
for CBC not to report the bacchans' arrival would be languid
journalism. and i speak as a neutral observer, neither a fan nor a
hater (and definitely not as an attendee of their show!)
we indians are so self-conscious.. worried what people may think of us
for adoring our "unknown" celebrities. relax, fellow desis... nothing
about the bacchan publicity machine should make us cringe more than,
say, a true artist like celine contracted for years as a showpiece in
a vegas casino; or tom/nicole timing their divorce with releases of
their respective movies; or as you claim, the brangelina frenzy (you
honestly think the CBC cares enough to follow the bachchans to a
remote place like namibia??)
yes, the bacchans are over-hyped. but which bollywood actor doesn't
want the hype? actors are just one cog in the machinery which mints
money off people's craze. don't like it? then stop watching bollywood,
stop buying DVDs - i haven't seen many indians smart enough to take
that step. until such time as we equate the artificial glitz of
bollywood with our "culture", we can't complain about publicity
machines which keep the illusion going.
show biz runs ONLY on publicity and hype. that's why a man like
bollywood director madhur bhandarkar can take wannabe actresses to bed
with empty promises of stardom, then turn around and make a movie
about how bollywood exploits young girls! and get this - he's given an
award for his unflinching portrayal of truth, haha! if puke you must,
do it on such characters. in comparison, the bacchans pursuit of
publicity hardly qualifies as the crime of the century.

at 9:32 AM ETI am tired of this continuous publicity machine of
Bachhans bombarding us with the description of their daily life. I am
already bombarded by their news item everyday on OMNI TV South Asian
edition, as well as other Indian newspaper.
If that was not enough, now their publicity machine has managed to
reach even CBC. I wish CBC was free from these publicity stunts
I was a big Bachhan fan in 70s, when he did make good movies. And yes,
Aishwayra Rai is beautiful. But they both are past the overexposure.
Now whenever, I read about them or see them on TV, I feel like
throwing up.
This is worse even than the Brad Pitt - Angelina Jolie or The Dark
Knight news that are shoved us down our throat everyday.

at 5:47 PM ETI think the Hindi film industry can hold its own - it
does not have to be approved of by anyone. If you do not like it, no
one is forcing you to - this is a news worthy event - to many people
in the world (Africa, Middle East, Russia, Caribbean, South America
and the diaspora in North America and Europe); this is a big
deal...they like Hindi films. The places that Hindi films have
reached, Hollywood have not even discovered as yet....get informed!!
On the ticket price - very extravagent! - at $ 350 and 750 (NJ), it is
a small fortune. Too bad the promoters could not make it
affordable...instead of making the event a cash grab!

at 5:41 PM ETOk people, I LOVE Bollywood, and I'm sure this show would
be fantastic, but I refuse to go because I find this entire family
overrated. Individually, they're all great, but as a unit, very
overrated.
For those of you questioning Amitabh Bachchan's appearance -- you guys
have to go back into the 70s and 80s to really gain an appreciation
for how talented he really is. Even now, all they have to do is put
the camera on him for any movie, and people will flock to the
theatres. He has amazing screen presence and is an AMAZING actor.
Abhishek -- he's just recently begun to prove himself as an actor.
He's great with comedies and has just begun to show how good he is
with other emotions as well. Give him a few more years and he will be
just as good as his dad (ok maybe not, but close!). He's had to climb
the ladder and dealt with a lot of flops before he started churning
out hits. His parents refused to act with him because they wanted him
to establish himself without their help. Very commendable.
Aishwarya -- what can I say. I hate her because she's that beautiful!!
Talented actress, but very overrated.
For all three of them together, I suggest watching Sarkar Raj -- very
well done.

If it wasn't for mutual support by the Mumbai mafia, and how much of
the money goes to them to be washed on this tour, they would be non-
entities.
People with acting talent stay out of the Bollywood entanglement, but
the silly CBC has no context despite many people knowing about the
topic.
Where is the Hamilton Polish-Bollywood star Lisa Ray?
