HT it doesnt sound like Manna dey at all...i listened to it again and again..

"Zamaana" has music by Salil Chowdhury, not Anil Biswas.
I agree that it does not sound like Manna Dey. I thought it might be
Dwijen Mukherji, though it is hard to be sure. There are some places
where I thought his distinct sound and pronunciation came through.
Hard to be sure.

Out of seven songs in ZAMAANAA, two were composed by Anil Biswas (including the above one) and the rest by Salil!

Finally what is the correct info? Who sang it?

i feel that it is either Anil Biswas or some other bengali singer like Dwijen mukherji or Subir sen..

No one seems to be sure

1. The persons who have written the books never had the occasion to actually hear these songs.

2. Their source of information was the names of the singers written on the records/other books.

3. There are instances where the film versions are sung by the singers other than those
who have sung for the records.

The funny thing in the song..is that the male voice doenst come solo at all..just along with Asha ! Which makes it much more difficult to analyze. Am sure that it is not Manna Da. Just my two pence..
