Dada Burman - what can be said about him? One is wary of using superlatives when talking about composers of the "golden era" of Hindi film music, as each composer was, in his own way, peerless - but, of Dada Burman, I, at least, can safely say that there is no composer as ageless as him, whose tunes remain as well loved by the 70-year old vintager as the 25-year old college student - and that, more than 20 years after Dada left us. Hear, for example, "Raat ke raahi thak mat jaana" or "Jag mein aaye koi koi jaaye re" ... do these songs have an age?
