i.e. mujrim hun muhabat ka jo chaey saza dena. singer is late yakoob.

Is this lyricist same as the famous director Kamaal Amrohi.
I think Mahal came only in 1949 which was his directorial debut. What was he doing in between?

Yes, lyricist is the same famous director KAMAAL AMROHI!

Before directing, MAHAL he wrote scripts, dialogues and lyrics for many films.He also wrote lyrics for Sohrab Modi's PUKAAR, PAAKEEZAH, RAZIA SULTAN, SHANKAR HUSSAIN......

Mahesh bhai please upload "gar jeena hai tu pyar karo" from record version, if you have it.

Yes Erum ji, Basant song male co-singer is 100% Arun Kumar and not Khan Mastana (corrected tag) and corrected the post.

But Listen to Ham apne dard ka khissa and mujrim hoon in one go---and you will notice that the voice is same in both the songs of MUQABLA (1942). There appears to be error in geetkosh/earthmusic.net. Checked with some rare collectors and they also agree its Khan Mastana.

I will request members to download this clip..

Here I am uploading only mukhda of both songs in one file from film MUQABLA (1942) so that the members can listen and identify whether the voice is same in both the songs or not.

But, Mohd bhai, Erumji,
78 rpm shows the singer for "mujrim hun muhabat ka" as yakoob, despite of the fact there is a big combination of the voice with khan mastana.

Anyone having any list of songs sung by Khan Mastana and also the list of films composed by Khan Mastana?

Because it was picturised on Yakub. Those days majority of the records
bore the names of the characters rather than that of the singer. The singer is of course
Khan Mastana. The Geet Kosh and other similar books were compiled on the basis of the
names of the singers written on the records and no exercise of verification, by actually
listening to the songs, appeares to have been carried out.

The other song....hum apne dard ka kissa....was picturised on Khan Mastana that
was why his name was mentioned on the record.
