Time: some 20-30 years from now (I am 53 now).

Scene : I lay dying in bed, surrounded by all near & dear. A doctor just now pronounced that I dont have more than one hour. Luckily, I am still able to hear & talk. I request that Rafi CD be played & all leave the room. they oblige.

These are the songs I hear:

Duration: 7.35 Bit Rate: 128
002_Saaz Ho Tum Aawaz Hoon Movie: Saaz Aur awaaz MD: Naushad

003_Madhuban Mein Radhika Movie: Kohinoor MD: Naushad

004_Maine Chand Movie: Chandrakanta MD: N Dutta Duration: 5.57 Bit Rate: 128
005_caravan_gujar_gayaa Movie: Nayee Umar Ki Nayee fasal MD: Roshan Duration: 6.23 Bit Rate: 128
006_Hari_om Movie: Baiju Bawraa MD: Naushad Duration: 4.59 Bit Rate: 128

008_Tu Ganga Ki Mauj Movie: Baiju Bawraa MD: Naushad Duration: 4.39 Bit Rate: 128
009_Phir_Wohi_Bhooli_Si_Yaad Movie: Begaana MD: Sapan Jagmohan Duration: 3.24 Bit Rate: 128
010_Rang Aur Noor Ki Barat Movie: Ghazal MD: Madan Mohan Duration: 6.19 Bit Rate: 128
011_radhike_tune_bansuri Movie: Beti Bete MD: Shankar Jaikishan Duration: 3.20 Bit Rate: 128
012_meri_awaaz_suno Movie: Naunihal MD: Madan Mohan Duration: 7.47 Bit Rate: 128

While one of these songs is being played, I die.

Now tell me friends, is it not a sure way of reaching heaven (I had already reached heaven during my last moments on earth)?

Put in another way, if god sends his court singer to put me to sleep permanently, will he send me to hell a few moments later?

If I am alive even after the first 7 songs, I'll listen to these:

Madhu Garu..The idea is as exceptional as the choice of the songs. This just shows the kind of passion and reverence you have towards Rafi Sahab.. smile.gif

A daunting task to pick the ten best..of Him. But you inspired me. Will apply for passport myself.. btw, thanks a lot for Saaz ho tum aawaz... I listened it for the first time..( blasphemy ? ) I am almost sure that you have excellent grounding in Classical Music...Would you care to tell about this ? Only if you dont feel am prying into personal matters.. smile.gif

Dear ayyagari,

First, Hats-Off to your philosphy(which is 100% true) !!!

As for as 'Rafi concern', it is not strange, a dead person become alive & still living happily after 30 years.
Divinity is another name of 'Rafi'.

In front of Rafian-Song heaven itself is not more than pie-nutt . biggrin.gif

ayyagari bhai, jug-jug jiyo.

Dear Sir,

Actually, I would like to know you and Venkat better (I am also from Hyderabad). But whenever I try to send a message, I am told that I do not have that privilage & I do not know how to get that privilage. My mail ID is : amadhu09@yahoo.com

You are wrong in your assumption. From childhood I developed a taste for Classical based film music but none for classical music itself. I like "Saaz Ho Tum Awaaz Ho Tum" but do not have an ear for Bhim Sen Joshi. I like "Rasika Raja Taguvaramu Kaamaa" and "Siva Sankari Sivanandalahari" but I dont listen to Karnatic Music

So, HF has once again discovered a true Rafi connoisseur in Ayyagari.

You know what, AG! I have even told my daughter (my co-Rafi-fan in the family, who stays in US) already that on my death-bed, I precisely want the choicest Rafi songs played!

Now, you are also saying the same. I am indeed touched.

Keep the thread going. I will have lots of suggestions here. smile.gif
