Abhimaan (1973)

Here is a great musical from the house of Hrishikesh Mukherjee. Superb acting together with phenomenal music and a powerful story propelled this movie to a success.

This movie was based on Hollywood's "A Star Is Born." That movie was made three times in Hollywood, in 1937 with Janet Gaynor, in 1954 with Judy Garland, and in 1976 with Barbara Steisand, all three times with the same title. It was also the basis for another Hollywood movie called "Glitter" made in 2001 with Mariah Carey.

Jaya Bhaduri was tied for the Filmfare best actress award with Dimple Kapadia (in her debut making movie "Bobbie"). Burmanda won Filmfare award as the best music director. He also won BFJA award for this movie for that year.
