By 1956, the Anna-Lata combination, which had rewarded us with scores ranging from 'Sipahiya' in 1948 to 'Yasmin' in 1955, had all but broken, with a spat which was never to be healed. It was only rarely, thereafter, that we spied the old spark again, as in, for example, "Dil ki duniya basaake sanwariya" in 'Amar Deep'. '26th January' had, however, some numbers redolent of the earlier magic Lata wrought in the compositional custody of Chitalkar Ramachandra. Here are four numbers from the film:

"Chala hai pyar ka raahi" is another classic Lata number from the film, I am told, but have not been able to get hold of the number. Could anyone contribute it? Also, these other songs from the same film:
